Great story on HBO Sports this week about how badly the US Olympic Committee financially treats the majority of the athletes.

Most get only health care and at most a few thousand per year.

One agents said that 75% of all US athletes are living at or near the poverty line.

The USOC makes untold millions and has no one to account to.

Almost all foreign athletes are fully supported by their countries.

Ledecka: What do you get when you get a snowboarder and borrow skis from your friend Shiffrin? A gold medal! Priceless! Best ski run of the olympics in my opinion even if she isn't an american. This is what the olympics are all about. Come out of nowhere while others are celebrating like the racing is over and the stupid network tunes out with several more racers left to go. I thought the race was over and Veith was the winner not realizing there was plenty left to go. Even after Ledecka was done there was more and they tuned out again? Idiots! NBC blows...

It's not NBC's fault that our athletes aren't winning.
Many of these competitors have 1 shot to define their entire life history.
In Austria and Norway, these athletes are essentially Gods.

If not for Jake Burton, this Olympiad would be truly dismal.
.. except for the marvelous figure skating :P

At least OAR hasn't yet scored a gold :like

The USOC is a filthy dirty organization, a pathetic club of far left radical millionaires. I worked at the Lake Placid Games and the LA Games when I was in college and right after college. I was very interested is a career with the USOC. However, I soon learned that it wasn't what you know , but who you knew. Even worse, you had to bend down and kiss ass even if you knew the right people. I'm sure it's even 10 times worse now.

No complaints at all from me. Plenty of LIVE skiing and snowboarding in the primetime coverage, with some sliding and the occasional figure skating. Most of this has to do with the location and time difference, it's great.

Is the USOC as filthy an organization as your forebarers who slaughtered all those innocent native American women and children.

Watching women throw 900's, 1080's and various inverts, 10ft+ out of a halfpipe........ON SKIS. In Hi-Def on my giant TV.

If you had told me about this in 1993, I would have flipped my sh*t.
