It did ski great this year, but I'm trying to cut back on ducking ropes and I love the top section.hillbangin wrote:Dear Throblessthrobster wrote:Bump, since hillbilly bangin is so fond of this topic.
Disappointed that they didn't make a flake of snow on Vertigo this year. The Headwall could of used it.
Supe is a snow cone. Not an ice cone
Vertigo skied great all year without the manmade crap.
There are no headwalls at Killington.

Re: Vertigo Ice Cone
Speaking for the many that have served the two week penalty not ducking ropes is more the norm. Long time 100 day+ Killington skier was banned this past year after their 5th offense. Be aware and duck smartly. Patroller chased Liv4ski early in the season where he escaped because he out slogged the red coat and jumped on a Snowshed shuttle bus.hillbangin wrote:The rope means reserved for us - no tourons.throbster wrote:It did ski great this year, but I'm trying to cut back on ducking ropes and I love the top section.hillbangin wrote:Dear Throblessthrobster wrote:Bump, since hillbilly bangin is so fond of this topic.

That's totally lame. Not an issue at Wildcat. I guess patrol at Cat thinks those who duck ropes know what they are getting into and are capable of skiing less than ideal conditions.

The red coats are out early season.
Once the season starts not so much. They are bisy picking up wounded Tourons.

Ski patrollers also know frequent offenders and are on the lookout for them. One such patroller told me recently that he knew that I skied closed trails.

usually a reasonable assumption but we've heard about all the bright folks (alpine-tourons) who come updeadheadskier wrote:That's totally lame. Not an issue at Wildcat. to K, leave area boundary, and get lost/terrain trapped/S&R'ed at great expenditure of manpower and money - not to mention the adverse publicity that can follow.
those folks ruin it for the experienced and thoughtful skiers of limited-use terrain.
at platts, i'll ask first if a patroller is near a rope. the answer is always "this is plattekill, go for it"
plattekill skiers have earned it by not getting lost in the sidecountry...thus far.

For the person who had 5 offenses and If this is who I think it is, ducking a rope while grooming is going on which he did will get you thrown out for good, very, very bad thing to do. I hope he and his wife enjoy Sugarbush.

I think it's more they are looking for morons ducking ropes who are skiing trails that have less than a foot of snow on them.tyrolean_skier wrote:Ski patrollers also know frequent offenders and are on the lookout for them. One such patroller told me recently that he knew that I skied closed trails.
Be smart you won't get caught. Or hurt.

Re: Vertigo Ice Cone
No disrespect to K patrol. Half of them can hardly ski. Kind of embarrassing to watch. Same with the the ambassadors. Ducking a rope is a personal choice. We all know what can happen. A time and place for everything. Never duck a rope on trail thats getting the winch cat love. Hardly happens during the day. Think twice if you see a random blue beacon on a trail. That cable will kill you.

Re: Vertigo Ice Cone
Vertigo with thin early season cover is not safe. Lot of big, sharp rocks below the headwall. You can get seriously hurt. That's not a smart poach. And anyone who goes on a public forum and brags about ducking ropes pretty much deserves to have the book thrown at them. It's like talking about Fight Club.
