2019 MLB
2019 MLB
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- In apparent contradiction of his own commissioner, Boston Red Sox owner John Henry said Monday that, while there is not a perfect correlation between a bigger payroll and winning, "spending more money helps."
Unlike Yankee fans I always admitted that in MLB it’s all about the payroll. So that’s my payroll rant for 2019.

So when you slip up and mention payroll again later this season, we should just delete your posts?Atomic1 wrote:So that’s my payroll rant for 2019.

Re: 2019 MLB
Machado's contract demonstrates the value of whiffing to end a World Series is $30M/annum.
Heck, even you could do that
Good luck Padres
Harper is poised to make even more .. butt he may offer better value

Team is looking pretty good on paper right now, but we'll need luck with that contract sometime in the next 5-8 years.SnoBrdr wrote:Ya, so you got a guy for 13 years.XtremeJibber2001 wrote:Fixed it for you.SnoBrdr wrote:Dodgers were in the chase.XtremeJibber2001 wrote:We're anxiously awaiting his arrival ...brownman wrote:Harper is poised to make even more .. butt he may offer better value

Position players look pretty good on paper, outside of Nola your pitching staff isn't so hot.

Re: 2019 MLB
Lots of question marks with the rotation ... end of 2018 the club was ~4.00 ERA or league average. I think we've seen it doesn't take a star studded rotation to win the fall classic. Heck, Phils had maybe one of the best rotations in history just 10 years ago and it didn't get them another trophy. Sometimes you have to take what the baseball gods give youdaytripper wrote:Position players look pretty good on paper, outside of Nola your pitching staff isn't so hot.
One things for certain, we'll be done paying Harper before the Mets are done paying Bonilla

Harper is NOT a good position player.
Last year his defensive WAR was MINUS 27, according to ESPN.

Re: 2019 MLB
The Harper contract reminds of the ARod deal with Texas so many years ago.

The Sox Sandoval one was bad but at least it was reasonably short.
The NL East still belongs to Atlanta.
