Last year his defensive WAR was MINUS 27, according to ESPN.
I suggest double checking that stat. I'm showing -3.2 dWAR and 1.3 WAR overall ... his worst defensive year.
Anyway, Harper is not a BAD position player, he's average and always has been. In 2018, 275 putouts out of 285 were 'routine' and just two of the routine he erred. The other 10 putouts were remove opportunities, but he's never been that guy. He's kind of like Mike Trout when it comes to fielding, but obviously lacks the offensive power of Trout. Hey, maybe Trout will come to Philly in two years ...

He isnt a liability as long as you keep him out of center, nats played him in center too much and he is not a center fielder.

You are confusing the 2.
That stat was based solely on his defensive skills or lack of.
They showed at least a 30 clip of all sorts of errors he made last year.

Makes most sense to put him in right, but still TBD.

Ah, thanks. They're using DRS, not dWAR, for the -27. This is what I was talking about above with putouts. The minutiae aside, I agree he's only an average fielder. I don't expect that to change, but if his offensive stats slip then Phillies will have a problem.

If he's worth that kinda $$$ and he's not, what will Trout and Mookie expect?
