NSA Bulk Phone / Data Collection and FISA Warrants

What I always find amusing when they start kicking around this muh "FISA WARRANTS!!!!" stuff is nobody really wants to talk about what a FISA warrant ACTUALLY lets the FBI, etc do. From what I understand, the NSA is by default actively recording and archiving almost all communications (email, app, text, phone etc) that come though any major data hub in the country, generally bulk data collection per the 2008 FISA Amendments Act / FISA-702. Supposedly it's foreign comms, but they pick up almost everything in reality.

When you get a FISA warrant approved, this allows an investigator to query the NSA's resources about any comms that a subject has had. Furthermore, they can also query the comms of anyone they've talked to and so on down the chain. Thus from one warrant on a single guy on campaign, they can ping most anyone in the campaign and harvest vast amounts of surveillance.
