What Will The 2020-2021 Ski Season Be Like at Killington ?

Post by ski »

~ Masks Required
~ Social distancing in lift lines, lodges, etc
~ No Tailgating
~ Limits on the number of people allowed on the mountain per day. Passholders may need to "opt in" for any day they want to ski in order to give the mountain an idea of how many to expect so they can sell day tickets.
~ No typical group ski lessons . .
~ Restrictions on the number of people in the gondola and most lifts.
~ Bar scene may be outside or non-existent
~ Bathrooms - your guess is as good as mine
~ Uphill pass - would not be surprised to see a price increase on this . . .
~ No Texans, Floridians, or Californians
~ KMS - probably won't adhere to any rules, as is typical . .

. . . . and there will be much more to follow . . .

Do you sh*t while skiing that often? Maybe once a year I sh*t while skiing and I get 30+ days a year. Taking a sh*t with ski boots on sucks, but it isn't that hard to avoid.

- Use of an advance on-line reservation system to manage skier flow. The Oregon ski areas like Crystal and Bachelor were using the systems in March/April

- Reduced staffing - Due to housing restrictions (can't share rooms and apartments?) and far fewer to none foreign employees due to flight and J-1 visa restrictions

This week, A Basin and Jackson Hole sent out brief on-lines surveys to folks on their email list asking and gathering data about skier thoughts, pass purchases, intents and preliminary plans for the upcoming season

With spacing requirements and reduced loading on lifts, it seems like most lifts will need to run to have anything close to sufficient capacity. If the resort does the math, the cost of increased wages to attract enough lifties might make sense as that will allow higher ticket sales. We might see management bumping chairs or directing lines at peak hours, we've seen that before already.

It also makes sense that total visits and revenue will be down. If you don't close lifts, then we might see fewer snowmaking trails per lift.

No snowmaking on

Sunrise, unless paid for by Association

Fiddle
Wildfire
Stash
Dreammaker

Vertigo
Great Eastern, Skyeship could be Stage II for a year
Ovation

Pipe Dream

Cascade/Downdraft headwall
Downdraft lower
Double Dipper

Full House
Great Bear
Conclusion

Swirl (Unless paid for by KMS)
Header usual areas

Northbrook Trail (And no Yurt)
Yodeler

With the Gondola being out of favor, we might see the Canyon Quad and NRQ run more. Snowshed might run the double more. NEQ might be daily.

What does footwear have to do with sh*ting? That's a new one to me.

Squatting over a bowl in ski boots is difficult, are you saying you actually sit on those nasty ass toilets?

It's hard to balance standing on the toilet in ski boots.

According to the Dictionary of Hump: Ski boots prevent the full dropping of trou, leaving ones underpants, base layer, insulation layer, and ski pants all bunched up just below the knee. At this location on the upper calf, ones leg spread is reduced to the common width of the bunched garments. With ones thighs touching or nearly touching, the buttocks are left in a partially closed position increasing the effort required to relax the sphincter and expel waste past the cheeks of ones buttocks. Cleanup requirements can also be increased. To rectify this situation, one should consider skiing in shorts. Also never take your ski boots off in the woods; making that mistake is equally unpleasant.
