Judging by the loss of snow at my house across from Pico, I’d call this the “r*in of terror”.
yup put away the shovel. good opportunity to mow the lawn. 58 degrees in downtown mendon. fwiw today's record high is 50. at least the car got washed ...
it's early. still have another 12 hrs of this nonsense. maybe up to 2" snow on the back end. there's gonna be lots of fixing. here's snowshed:
Lost the Winter Wonderland view we had, and a natural creek is flowing to an extent, that there is a waterfall! Then there is the small creek flowing that is not supposed to be there. Oh, and 54 degrees at 2100’!
mtn shutting down at 2. saw very few skiers on the webcam. only the hardest corp need apply. a literal washout of a day.
temps drop below freezing around midnight and continue down throughout the day. tomorrow should be cookies by 9:30. maybe the inch or two of new will help. wouldn't be surprised if they don't groom everything tonite. guns should go on and we'll see how much resurfacing they do before moving into expansion mode.
fwiw, the skyeship lot across the street is flooded. another concern is more damage from flooding on the mtn in locations they've just barely recovered from.
Temperature has fallen 5 deg at Bear in the last hour and a half to about 45 degrees. r*in at 2.25”. Maybe I’ll see snow around supper time. The only good news? Idiot dog dropped his ball through a drainage grate. He looked so forlorn. I found it several hours later in the eddy of a brook several culverts down. Nearly fell in while fishing it out, but the pup is happy again.

Do you think they will open tomorow? Might just be the carpet to keep the ball rolling!

we're opening:
The weather was rough today, but we see snow in the forecast tonight and throughout the day tomorrow. With temps dropping drastically overnight we expect the skiing surface to firm up a bit so be prepared for variable conditions around the mountain tomorrow. We also will have Skyeship Stage II and Northbrook Quad closed tomorrow as our operations teams work to revive that terrain from the effects of today’s weather. As always, make sure to check the Lifts and Trails Report in the morning before heading out.
Our grooming team will be out making passes on the majority of terrain for tomorrow laying down some corduroy and hopefully working in some fresh snow. Check out Great Northern, Chute, and Rime in the morning for fast smooth cruising. Expect firm hard pack with fresh snow on top tomorrow. Hope you can make it up to The Beast!
