But 20+ years ago when Killington was doing 20k skier visits on a Saturday and parking cars down the roads at all lodges it was okay? Now they are doing less than that probably and it’s an Ikon problem?

Would you rather they cap visits at 5k a day? And loose money and you never get any upgrades?

Can the Town just build a border wall to keep all these IKON immigrants out?

I am skeptical about these numbers [historic Saturday 20K, last Saturday 15K].
Goes to show, you don't never know
Watch each card you play, and play it slow
Don't you let that deal go down
Don't you let that deal go down

Looks like its going down no matter what I do !!!

Solutions are not discussed here on Kzone, only problems.

Just cute that anyone thinks adding more infrastructure to maintain, without fixing/upgrading the existing stuff makes sense. Let’s see…..Tear down three baselodges, build two, deal with the road reconfiguration, the water project, and make sure all the existing lifts are OK including the ancient lifts at Pico, plus build new parking lots and get a related transportation system up and running PLUS add at least two new lifts, snowmaking and multiple trails that don’t currently exist? That’s a mighty big shopping list. Where does the money come from to pay for this? Are there even construction folks in the area for this? Probably not.

Once again, make sure not to confuse Powdr’s mountain responsibilities with Great Gulf’s village development responsibilities.

You are overthinking my comment which was really just a flip way of saying there are too many other higher priority items. As the pace things happen and the capacity of a ski area to continue to operate in the middle of a large decade long construction project it’s not feasible. And finally when there are a lot of deferred maintenance items to take care of it does not make sense to ignore them and start a new lower priority project. Regardless of who pays for what, there are tremendous drains on resources already without starting another project which adds maintenance.

People seem to think there actually are resources to do the interconnect. Upper Pike has not received snow making yet. That’s the showcase trail at Pico. The outpost chair is 55 years old or some such thing and has run 2 days so far I think with Gnomes knoll just slightly behind in age.

Hmm, Pico has old lifts? Surprise surprise, that's what you get when you don't build a lift for 35 years. Killington isn't much better. Since 1998, they've built a total of 3 new lifts, so a lift every 9 years. At that rate, it'll take them 153 years to replace everything.

No ski resort has wasted their full potential more than Killington has. All thanks to two parent companies who screwed them at every opportunity. They should be building a new lift almost every year just to turn over the fleet at a reasonable age. Instead, they can't keep up on basic maintenance.

Are you calling Killington an "Underachiever"?
