Doubt it hurts fox that much. Net worth of fox is like 17 Billion.

It's 65% of their 2022 net income. Seems like a lot to me.

It does hurt. Look at their balance sheet. FY22 Net income was ~$1.5B. It's not over either ... still have Smartmatic and then investors ...daytripper wrote: ↑Apr 18th, '23, 15:34 Doubt it hurts fox that much. Net worth of fox is like 17 Billion.

It's not going to put them out of business or anything, but it's certainly significant. It also puts others on notice that they can't just report bullsh!t and get away with it. It's a big deal.

It made their viewers happy which leads to better ratings, I bet if given the chance they would do the same.

I do think they will do something like this again, but be smarter about it (eg “just asking questions”).daytripper wrote: ↑Apr 18th, '23, 16:43 It made their viewers happy which leads to better ratings, I bet if given the chance they would do the same.

In the end, a $785 million settlement is a very clear admission of guilt. That's the key takeaway for me. They knew they would lose at trial so they did the only thing they could do - pay up.

I'd have rathered the trial gone through and see asshats like Tucker on stand admitting they lied.
Fox won't lose a single viewer over this as is.

The sad part is over the last two years they've steadily gained viewers.
Fox News is a misnomer. It's not a news network, it's an entertainment network. It's WWE for politics. Fans can't get enough and they don't seem to care that it's fake.

I watched Tucker last night - he reminds me of a modern day Rush Limbaugh.easyrider16 wrote: ↑Apr 19th, '23, 06:55The sad part is over the last two years they've steadily gained viewers.

Fortunately Rush Limbaugh is dead. Rupert is not far behind. I'd be satisfied to see career death for Tucker, Hannity, and the other co-conspirators at Faux.XtremeJibber2001 wrote: ↑Apr 19th, '23, 08:15I watched Tucker last night - he reminds me of a modern day Rush Limbaugh.easyrider16 wrote: ↑Apr 19th, '23, 06:55The sad part is over the last two years they've steadily gained viewers.
