Big Bob wrote: Jun 19th, '23, 18:22 So asher2789, what project at killington are you working on this summer?
i switched to residential, a private high end residence in killington. better pay, better crew, better hours, more respect, a decent job. i regret not asking for more pay but ill be revisiting that soon enough.

i will probably never work commercial again, too much sh*t, not enough pay. cant wait to see the next 10+ years of this village being built with no labor.
So, in this case, capitalism seems to have created a positive outcome for you.... you left your prior job for one that seems to be better in every way? Now your prior employer will have to fill the spot wtih someone who may be less talented than you or they will have to respond by increasing the pay and improving working conditions.

Wait, let me get this straight. You're upset that rich out-of-staters come here and buy up all the real estate from locals who can't afford the inflated prices, yet at the same time your current living is based on working on these very same high-end residences?

I am a boomer who started skiing at K in the 60's by organizing groups of 20 for bus trips in return for free skiing. I worked my ass off for 40+ years to be able to afford ski house memberships and season passes. I started in my profession at the bottom level and worked my way up to a good salary before retiring. I think I speak for many of us non-entitled boomers in the ski house/weekend community when I say Asher, you should shut up and go away. If it wasn't for us you wouldn't have a resort to build.

An interesting Newsweek article about how student loan borrowers are frustrated and encouraging each other to default en masse. The article goes on to interview a financial analyst who explains the problem with this idea:
However, Foster noted that avoiding payments can still result in consequences, including the government garnishing your wages, and your credit score could be hurt.

"Not to mention, missing a payment also comes with penalties and fees that make the cost of your student loan even greater. All of those reasons illustrate why not making payments could end up giving your student loan debt the power to hold back your wealth-building opportunities even more," Foster told Newsweek.
