Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump
Yeah it's a good point. As I understand it, it's pretty clear Trump falsified some records to try to cover up these hush money payments. I'm not an expert in NY corporate law but from what I've understood from the news clippings I've read, there might be some misdemeanor criminal liability there.
I think anyone who's being objective has to see that Trump has been conducting shady business practices in New York for a long time. You've got the charitable trust case, the Trump Org case, and now this one. Looking at the facts alone, there's a lot of evidence that Trump was not complying with the law. This sort of thing alone should disqualify him from high office. But there are so many things that should disqualify him... his sexual assaults, his constant and very obvious lying, his attempt to overthrow the government.. I mean just add it to the list. It's amazing that people are still willing to support this guy given the level of corruption he's shown.

So another juror has withdrawn after being threatened by Drumpf and his cult of MAGA thugs. Why aren't they now prosecuting him for jury tampering?

It's a pretty thankless job. Limited upside with a ton of downside if the MAGA cohort gets a hold of your identity. Funny how the MAGA people were complaining they can't get a fair trial in a place like NY. Maybe the opposite is true - the prosecutor can't get a fair trial because of all this potential for intimidation.

Do you find it appalling when elected officials make direct threats against other Americans?

Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump
So... The documents trial in Fla has now been delayed indefinitely by Trump sycophant judge Aileen Canon. Is anybody surprised. This disgrace of a so called judge has been slow walking this case from the start. Maybe the Orange Stain offered her a supreme court seat or maybe maybe just cold hard cash. Disgusting!

Ahhhh... Jack Smith (the stupid prosecutor) tampered with the documents AND the Biden admin set up Trump by sending him classified documents he didn't know about. What should Judge Canon do other than carefully review the case?G-smashed wrote: ↑May 7th, '24, 18:13 So... What do you think about Judge Merchan or Engeron? Are they disgraceful? Most or the legal community thinks so.

What's your basis for this knowledge? In the latest filing, the only thing Trump's team alleges is that the prosecutor didn't maintain the proper sequencing of documents in a box the defense had access to the entire time. Not exactly an earth-shattering accusation. The Trump team filing before that only alleged that the prosecution was motivated by political animus and mentioned nothing about evidence tampering. Here are links to the actual filings:

Who in the legal community told you this? Again I'm curious about the basis of your knowledge.
From my perspective, Merchan and Engeron seem like pretty well respected jurists. Merchan has been on the bench for almost 20 years and has a reputation for being tough on criminal defendants. Engeron has been on the bench for over 20 years and has been practicing law longer than Cannon has been alive. By contrast, I'm not sure the legal community thinks so highly of Cannon, who is really young (sub 40 when appointed) and somewhat inexperienced as a judge to be handling a high-profile case involving a former president.
On the other hand - don't just blame Cannon for canceling the May trial date. Even the prosecutor agreed that the case wouldn't be ready by May. Looking at the docket, though, it's pretty clear the defense is burying the case in paper. A clear attempt to create delay, IMHO.

So in other words, the prosecutor mishandled classified documents? How about the photo of the classified documents strewn across the floor? Turns out the FBI paperclipped "classified" cover sheets to random documents to make it look bad. The FBI is beyond repair at this point.easyrider16 wrote: ↑May 8th, '24, 06:12What's your basis for this knowledge? "Who in the legal community told you this?" Alan Gershowitz, Jonathan Turley, Victor Davis Hanson... to name a few.

Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump
Ah, so you've heard it from partisan TV talking heads on broadcast news. Makes sense, but that's not what I'd call "the legal community" (FFS Hanson isn't even a lawyer) and certainly no indication of what "most" in that community think.
And no, I don't think failing to maintain document sequence is mishandling classified documents. The documents are out of their original order - so what? They're all still there, right? Why does the order matter? How does it hurt the defense? Honestly I think it's a bit of a joke of an argument, and was probably only put forth as a sur-reply to create additional delay.

From now on I'd like only people with brains to post on my threads. The only question about how Judge Canon got her job is did she swallow?Skid Mark wrote: ↑May 7th, '24, 18:20Ahhhh... Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump
Welp, it looks like the Biden admin lawfare against Trump is a miserable fail. Fani's case won't start before the election. Same with Jack's (if at all). The current Bragg case is a complete sham and everybody knows it. He will be found innocent or will easily win in an appeal. Trump will also win his appeal on the ridiculous James ruling/fine.
In summary, the lawfare by Biden made a mockery of our judicial system and the Constitution and shows just how desperate and corrupt he is.
Cry liberals cry.
