Mouse removal

Post by ABRAXAS »

Looking for recommendations for a local pest control person or company that can eradicate mice inside the house and then do work on perimeter of house to help prevent more problems. Pittsfield VT area. Administrators remove post if not allowed on this forum. Thank you.

Cats are expensive. They will definitely demolish the house though. Seems a bit extreme. Or you could get traps and bait them with peanut butter. Or the stub of your fingers if you experience premature execution. I have an electronic one that electrocutes them; it sends me an email when it trips. Works surprisingly well.

They sell devices that make an unpleasant sound for mice but humans/dogs/cats cannot hear. They work great so I would get one for each floor of the house.

Unless you BLOCK their ACCESS, you can poison and trap all you want and it won’t matter . It’s one thing if they can sneak into a garage door left open but if it’s open access then it’s like holding the ocean back with a rake…

I have smart mice, they can deftly lick the peanut butter off without tripping the trap. What's worse, by catching the clumsy stupid mice, I've been selectively breeding smart mice. Now I stuff a hard peanut fragment under the bait tray serrated grabber. They can't lick it off, they have to chew and tug. I now catch only the moderately intelligent mice, and am breeding super smart mice. It's scary to think what lies in my future.

Glue traps aren't for the faint of heart, I will say that. Definitely effective, but definitely not "HUMANE:

This... gotta block the holes or nothing matters. If it's not an opening that can be filled by typical building material or pest resistant spray foam, they usually use a rodent barrier that is basically steel wool but much sharper/ larger cuts of metal. They'll only try to get through it once...

Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, then overwhelm you with their experience.

As others have posted, gotta seal up the house.

As far as traps go, highly recommend "The Better Mousetrap". It's been around for years and is the best one out there. Plastic, easy to set, easy to release, and easy to clean. Trust me on this one.

They make a larger version [chipmunks, etc.] called Better Rodent Trap.

I recommend tunnel safe pest control traps I found on Amazon. I got rid of the environmentally detrimental black boxes and got the tunnel traps instead. They do a great job.

Those little house wreckers can slide through tiny openings to get in your house or garage. You need to close them as much as possible.

Yep - I got one of those as well. Use it outside which doesn't work well in winter.
