monday 12/11 report

Post by skiadikt »

mother nature giveth, she taketh and then she giveth. so far she giveth 7" of some rather heavy cement. exactly what we needed after yesterday's deluge. light snow continued through the morning session. not the best viz. because of all the h2o the snow had taken on, not a lot grooming. surprisingly very light turnout for a "pow" day. 9-1 shift.

parked at vale. at the bell hit a caper that was perfection. a couple inches on a groomed base. the usual upper snowdon nats skied well. upper bunny was the best groomer with excellent snow skier's right. LEF was a mixed bag w frozen bumps underneath the heavy snow - some high calorie turning. supe was similar w the upper half of the HW totally blown off. lark had been groomed and skied well. surprisingly lower bitter open. will give the rotd nod to old supe but the lower section gets a deduction because it was very thin.

the NR nats were resuscitated w powerline skiing surprisingly well. upper dipper liftline is always a fave and ridge good. the surprises kept coming w flush open ttb. lower half was very thin but overall quite good. upper chute another one brought back to life. GB was open to the top of the tunnel and skied well. patrol was proactive in their rope dropping, so might have opened lower later.

hopefully the snow continues for the afternoon shift and beyond. need a lot of snow to fix things.

I have to mention of the hordes of PSIA instructors taking workshops this week. They seem more annoying than usual this year.

Not to be mean, but kind of enjoyed watching them all schlepping over to Rams when Snowshed delayed this morning🤭🫣🤭

I love to practice whatever they are trying into the their "leader".
Great day on the hill with the late rope drop on Cascade and DD. generally great powder bumps all around. Saw the snowmakers heading up the K1 at 2pm.
