LOL to tire shredding...
Maybe they can throw some random roundabout in the middle at some side roads too. That'll make the impatient speeders happy

Re: Access Road Speed Limit
Isn't the access road getting an upgrade as part of Phase 1? They're already doing work at the rt 4 junction. Construction will calm the traffic for the next year or two.
The best speeding deterrent is having a cop sitting on the side of the road. What else do they have to do in this sleepy little town?

Re: Access Road Speed Limit
Roundabouts work to slow traffic, but they can also introduce accidents to areas not currently plagued by them. Are more low-speed accidents a better solution than having less high-speed accidents? Not sure...but reduced major accidents and fatalities would be a likely benefit.jimmywilson69 wrote: ↑Dec 20th, '23, 13:49 LOL to tire shredding...

That’s interesting. Where can I find this statistics on roundabouts?

Re: Access Road Speed Limit
Truth about the slow down and minor accidents. I can see some of the knuckleheads that go to Killington trying to navigate them as fast as possible...Stormchaser wrote: ↑Dec 20th, '23, 14:11

Re: Access Road Speed Limit
It'll be interesting to see how the traffic will be when they have to close The Access Road to blow out the hill at the bottom, and most likely move to West Hill Road temporarily! Sure, it will be done in the off season, but Killington has two seasons now - skiing/riding and biking/golf/Adventure Park.
Re: Access Road Speed Limit
Maybe a series of speed humps. While most humps are designed to slow traffic to 15 to 20 MPH, I bet they can be designed for a 25 to 30 comfort speed.

Re: Access Road Speed Limit
No, please, no.
The whole reason the limit was reduced to 30mph was to qualify for village status on State programs. Let's not reduce a 5 mile drive to suspension rattling frozeuroy, there's enough of that on the hill. If there's a problem with excessive speed (which I haven't seen on a frequent basis) do some enforcement on holiday periods.
Re: Access Road Speed Limit
Too bad the the town sold the old fire station. That was a prime piece of public property to set up their speed trap.

Agree on no to speed bumps. Pople slow down to cross, then speed up after them. An academic town next to mine was putting speed tables in numerous locations and when they rebuild a road with a few they will be omitted. Not as smart as they thought they where!Mister Moose wrote: ↑Dec 20th, '23, 17:10No, please, no.

Re: Access Road Speed Limit
As an aside: back in the days of that Tubesteak Seth Webb…. He climbed on the local traffic calming bandwagon…. Wanting to close the slip lane to West Hill Rd. The mindset (?) was that you’d slow cars to the triangle… have em hang a right….. then bang a left. A fast disclaimer here: I’m a step 9 driver… have taught track and defensive driving schooling…. Etc . I…. And quite a few others…. DID impress on the yoot that this would likely cause spin outs…. Rear endings… and the like. You’re NoT going to slow people who are tired….cold… have to let the dog out… take a much needed dump….suffice to say…. This ill conceived plan failed. Until the next asshole pushes for it….

Re: Access Road Speed Limit
Well, the Killington Police cruiser was out at days end today, on the access road, between Rams Head and the Lookout. First time I've seen them sitting there.Skid Mark wrote: ↑Dec 20th, '23, 14:06 Isn't the access road getting an upgrade as part of Phase 1? They're already doing work at the rt 4 junction. Goes to show, you don't never know
Watch each card you play, and play it slow
Don't you let that deal go down
Don't you let that deal go down
Looks like its going down no matter what I do !!!
