The housing crisis is by design and laws. Vermont took control of development in the state back in 1970 with act 250. Idea was to prevent the state from looking like New Hampshire. Highly successful. The planners want any development to occur in our small cities were all the government services are available. These laws are working exactly as they should.

Killington being close to Rutland shouldn't have a low income housing issue. It is 20 minutes away from a Major for VT city AND there is public transportation to/from. The inclination that the "ski bums" should be able to live slopeside or even on the access road is really next level entitlement. Could there be a better push to have some housing in Killington proper, sure and there is recently. If you want to work at the mountain and live that life and raise a family. Rutland is an easy 20 minute commute away. There are other "resort" towns in VT where this is a bigger problem because there isn't a "small city" with services nearby. and yes 20-30 minutes is nearby. Most regular people drive that far to work at a minimum. Hell I live 3.5 miles from work and it takes me 7 minutes to get to the office.

There are plenty of nice houses in Rutland that are affordable by today’s standards.

I can't think of another resort town that has housing that affordable WITH all of the services of a small city 20 minutes away. Anywhere...

We can goof on Rutland for all the things it is - but it's not such a bad place outside of the winter weather if you don't ski.

I love being able to get a half day of skiing in, drive to Rutland to get my crack and still be home before my kid gets off the bus.

I rarely go into either, although the Grand Union has a VT Liquor Outlet that sometimes has something I'm looking for that the one in Hannaford is out of stock on.

That place is harmless - you should see the ones in the 'southern New England cities'.

The attics that hang out around the Grand Union have a scam going where they get in line in front of you already eating or drinking what they want to Purchase , then when they get to the register they pull out a card that fails , you being behind them and just wanting to get out of that sh-t hole say I got them , cashier says they do it all day , but it beats driving across town to Hannaford

Walmarts in general all look the same, especially in rural areas. Even though Rutland is a city, its a rural city because its VT.

Ok hillbanging , jimmy and Pedro , let’s put a end to this debate I’m gonna take some morning runs then let’s meet at Walmart in Rutland around 1:00 tomorrow , we will walk around , check out the sights then walk across the street to the Angler pub for some 3 $ pints of P B R and discuss what we just witnessed , “ it’s like every other Walmart “ I think not , and for everyone bitching about the price of a pint at K , check out the Angler
