Thank you for your patience as we continue to work with Leitner Poma on resolving a drive issue with Needles Eye Express Quad. The load test has been postponed, but The Needle’s Eye Express will be spinning as it undergoes further testing next week. There will be more updates to come on a projected opening date of 2/17.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work with Leitner Poma on resolving a drive issue with Needles Eye Express Quad. We will be performing a load test tomorrow starting at 8 a.m., which is expected to last until around noon. We will be closing a few trails including Panic Button, Northbrook Trail and the lower portion of High Road in order to keep skiers and riders out of the way. We expect these runs to open once the test is over, so stay tuned for updates. We will continue to test the lift over the next few days and will have more details on its projected opening date soon.

I would expect it to be open this weekend despite the dropping of a date.

observed them loading the barrels onto the chair and apparently they had a successful load test. if all goes well, friday. from the mtn report:

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work with Leitner Poma on resolving a drive issue with Needles Eye Express Quad. Our lift maintenance team performed a successful load test this morning, and they will have it turning tomorrow for further testing. Pending we don’t experience any hiccups, we expect the Needles Eye Express to open this Friday! Stay tuned for more details.

“Pending we don’t experience any hiccups, we expect…”
Amusing, but I’m sympathetic; editing on a deadline is hard.

Hope they run it every day here on out.

Needles Eye Quad status?

Post by spanky »

Since I mentioned it previously, this is from Magic’s update yesterday…
Work continues on Black Quad after successful load-testing yesterday, with many punchlist items. State inspection will be soon but operations timing is not expected for the weekend,, but perhaps the holiday Monday, as the chair needs some run-time before opening to the public. But, it is getting very close.

Magic lost that race 5 years ago.

Thanks to our amazing lift maintenance team and partners at Leitner Poma, the Needles Eye Express is expected to be up and running tomorrow! It’s been a long time without this key lift, so we thank you for your patience while we’ve been waiting on parts, making repairs and testing. Now that the lift is back in business, the flow of skiers and riders across the mountain will be greatly improved and the fantastic terrain on Skye Peak will be more easily accessible.

It ran well, once past the wind hold. Rode it several times. Nice to be able to avoid the Gondi and the chair to nowhere. The Needles pod is back!

I would be willing to bet that if Powdr came in and replaced every lift on the mountain in one fell swope, people here would still find things to complain about.
