Skyeship should be a flagship, but has deteriorated to that Ghetto vibe. Standing in line at the mid station while empty busted cars go by is infuriating. Not a good look for a place trying to pass itself off as high end.

KIllington shaouls start by replacing the gondola cabins. That would solve the problem of unusable cabins and give the place a facelift.

Killington should open the Snowshed Crossover when the Northbrook is down.

If only there was an 'off season' where K maintenance could work on repairing the cabins. That'd be great.

That was day one after a r*in/freeze, so opening a shiny crossover would have had it's own issues. But in general I agree, that should be the plan if they have time to get patrol to open the nets.

I asked Mike a couple of years ago when the whole east side of the resort lost power why the Snowshed crossover wasn't at least maintained to be skiable. I got a blank look of utter confusion on why the mountain should maintain it.

Ah, the old Killington on a crisp midwinter weekday.
A three-stage gondi, two ways to the peak, Rams from the top, peak to creeks with almost no intersections, and the Snowshed Crossover.

Now the Snowshed Crossover is really the Northbrook crossover. Instead of getting back to K1, you get to go to the bottom of Needles to watch broken gondi cabins go by.
2014 - "A South Ridge trail is Pipe Dream. A South Ridge lift shouldn't be."
2019 - "A South Ridge trail is Pipe Dream. A South Ridge lift (operating midweek) shouldn't be."
2023 - Killington announces that the South Ridge lift will run five days a week.
2024 - Killington lied.

I had to go back to the 2007 map (https://files.skimap.org/cx63eo2582duhb ... lz95tq.jpg) to see the old Snowshed crossover. I had wondered why Snowshed Crossover went to Northbrook . . . .

Or the (inane) reasoning behind said renaming and rerouting

definitely should be maintained for those situations. in the spring when they close the northbrook lifts, the crossover is usually opened so folks can ski upper needles, vertigo, thimble etc and get back. so yeah run a groomer over it occasionally.

regarding the skyeship, the lift is a disaster between the stoppages and broken cabins. should be at the top of their list for a rebuild similar to what they did on the k1. do not pass go and collect $200. also think a bubble 6 on rams should be ahead of superstar - though realize they may be waiting on the village.

obviously the needles situation has been a fiasco. can't imagine weekends there. hopefully it's near being ready to go. but right now on mon-thurs, when it normally doesn't run (even when healthy), they need to do a better job at rt 4 sending up empty cabins on the skyeship. when we ski down and there's a line extending out of the gates, we'll pass and ride the northbrook ecause the wait for empty cabins is too long.
