Historic aerials show the houses existing at least as far back as 1994. Wasn't the Northeast Passage lift abandoned in 1998?
Yup, both of them were built at the time the Northeast Passage was built. In fact, there was a ski trail bridge on Nor'easter trail over the driveway for the house on the left as you were going up the lift. You used to be able to catch a little air off of it. The house on the right as you were going up the lift was a duplex and I stayed in the lower unit once back in the early 90's when lower Sunrise Mountain was still open. I still lament the loss of that area every time I drive by it.

I've posted this before but here is NEP on a powder day after a Nor'easter back in March of 96. Remember when we used to have Nor'easters?
Regret I never hit the Northeast passage, figured i'd have plenty of time to do that. those pics look pretty cool K4, but if i remember correctly
those were the few sections really worth it.

Here is a rendering of some pre-"Parkers Gore" (c.1968) proposals for that side of the mountain . . .

Yes lift 1 was the K Gondola. The short lifts at the bottom to either side are interesting.

I remember something about this from Gsmashed, the “official Kzone historian”. Hope he’ll weigh in.

There were some really great blue cruisers off the Hawks Nest mid-station, some of the best blue cruisers Killington had to offer. Thunderball to Nor'easter was probably the best blue cruiser on the mountain, like a Cruise Control but longer and rolling and with nobody on it, Gold Dust was a fairly steep black nat that was great on powder days and the top of Nor'easter was a steep black dive down to a great blue bottom Nor'easter. Hawkeye was on par with Great Eastern for family favorite run with a quarter of the traffic.

Yesterday, when it was cold and windy as hell, i was thinking how i would have been down at Northeast Passage right now. And then at the Back Behind Saloon for après ski, that place was so great back then when it was a shot and a beer, burger joint. That whole area just had such a great laid back, off the beaten path vibe to it.

Northeast Passage area is not shown on this map. It would be to the left of #1, correct?

How about 12 - Gondola Center? Is that where the Wobbly is?

Great map - never saw this one.

If you built a real walking town on the golf course that would be something....like Ludlow with chairlifts up to the hill.

The golf course must stay for Mrs G. I don't have the original plan for Killington East but I do remember that they planned a major base area at the bottom of the gondola with an exhibition slope and I think 2 chairs on the lower pitch near the gondola. Remember this was in 1968 when it still snowed in winter.

That would have been sweet, though it seems the base of Northeast Passage would have been more condusive both terrain wise and space for a mini village.

I was on the skyeship around noon today. When we got to the mid station we had to unload, walk to the stage 2 loading area and get back on. They were running the 2 stages independently of each other.
