sunday 3/3 report

Post by skiadikt »

add another blockbuster day to the list. interesting weather however as most of the mtn was socked in early but bear was bright sunshine. the north side did clear late morning. temp cracked into the 50's (great for the skiing but not good overall). a lightish sunday turnout. 8-12:30.

hit all the bear runs under bright sunshine at the bell saving OL & UWF for later. perfect cream cheese. surprised at how good ovation was even at 9am. a bit crisp but more than enough softening. supe good. old supe co-rotd. nice soft bumps. repeated. old upper needles very good. another surprise was vertigo ttb. earned a repeat. a couple caveats - the rock band on the HW extends all the way across and the sharks teeth were out just above the crossover. stitchline soft enough but a lot of "stuff" to avoid.

escapade was very good. cascade & downdraft were merely ok. late visit to highline was also quite good. back to bear to finish on OL & UWF. will give OL co-rotd. big soft bumps. wildfire very good though more rocks are showing through. chair running but the SR runs are toast.

interesting weather. leaving bear around 12:45 - 53 degrees and basting in the sun. the pico pass was totally socked in. couldn't even see the mtn and drove a bit slower than normal. very foggy and only 43 degrees in mendon.
