thursday 3/14 pico report

Post by skiadikt »

skibum thursday at the place no one should go. beautiful sunshine and perhaps the warmest temps of the season. surprisingly fullish parking lot but as is usually the case, where were they on the hill. noon start for the golden. 11:30-4:00 shift.

lower mtn trails were on the "sticky" side. lower elevation outpost was manky and needed to be skied in more. upper mtn was where it was at. everything skied great. friends who double dipped (not the trail but skied k in the morning and pico in afternoon) thought pico was much better. upper mtn nats haven't been skied to within an inch of their life like they are at k. summit glade rotd. soft smallish user friendly bumps. not a hint of ice. perfect. multiple laps were had. giant killer just as good. again nice soft bumps. throw upper pike and birch glades into the mix. no one wanted the day to end.

Fun soft bumps in the usual places. Shirtsleeve skiing in the afternoon. Fresh wax paid off. Supe was like pre season training for May.

Here's the view down lower Skyelark.

Afternoon Report: Yep, pretty warm out there. North facing higher elevation trails were the place to be. Figured this out quickly after warmup run on Chute -> Mouse Trap which, though sticky in spots, was excellent.

ROTD: Best bet was boxing the Cascade, Superstar, Skyelark Trifecta. Take your pick.

Panic Needle's Eye very good.

Skylark looks quite inviting. and ski, nevermind T-rex, heard of a birdman sighting at K. If i drew the short straw and had to ride the box with stinky, i'd decline.
