monday 4/29 report

Post by skiadikt »

early sunshine that was quickly overrun by clouds and later by some dripping. warm at the open under the sun. cooler when i left around 11:45 once my hawaiian shirt had taken on too much water and the goggle swiping became too much of an annoyance. looks like it's dry now.

just a great morning. opened on a buttery groomed superstar. enjoyed the butter for a couple more runs. the lark/bitter combo skied well. upper bitter & lower lark not groomed and both now had breaks. this weekend could be it. lower lark had widely spaced bumps that had softened enough and skied well.

by 10-ish the supe bumps and mid o were in play. will give mid o the rotd nod because the bumps were more skied in. first couple runs were heavenly as the corn sloughed off your skis. the runout sadly will be done by tomorrow. supe was similar. appreciated the mid-week groom where they left a couple lines skier's left. they were beautifully corned. the trail itself bumped quickly. panic/needles roped.

wow looks like things cleared up. probably a great afternoon. too bad i got so wet this morning.

on trails like lower lark & upper bitter, the amount of snow melt was amazing. with nites not getting below 40 for at least the next week, very unfriendly for the longevity of the snowpack.

Did the (sunnier) afternoon shift

Bittersweet Meh - bleh. Upper has pack ice with bare spots on upper. Doubtful it will make the weekend, or if it does, with major farming. Lower Bitter still fine.

Skylark nice cover, even lower skis fine with just one 'brownish' spot. GS spaced bumpettes on lower that were fun.

Supe - only skied lower. Prestons had mild bumps, they could let that sit tonight and let it get r*ined on as is.

If you were thinking the crossover had any life left in it, it doesn't. Looking up High Road.

If you lost a pair of sunglasses, they're in the liftline, just have to chip them out of the ice.
