no offense taken. Most religions regard Jim Morrison as an infidel, including Christianity.tyrolean_skier wrote: I am not trying to offend any of you who are Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddist, atheist, etc. - just like the artwork.

I've been to Seacrets and it's tons of fun...even if you're already married. We had dinner and then ditched our (older) dinner companions. There was one bar that was playing Top 40...I know it's not everybody's favorite, but it can make for a fun evening! We took advantage of a taxi service for the ride back to the hotel.
A freind of mine (see "ditchee" above) competed in the contest this past weekend. An insight into time and technique: "I spent almost 3 hours doing the grunt work, packing and pounding the sand and about 3 hours on the sculpting."
Here's a link to a video of one of the castles being built...if you'd like to see how this is actually done...
1. Go to www.oceanpinesforum.com. If you cannot get into the site, you might have to register for participating on the forum. Said procedure only asks e-info, no names, phone numbers, etc.; you just register a screen name and a password.
2. On the left side of the home page, in the green area, click on Video Library.
3. Click on the Focus on the Pines link at the top of the list (where it says "Jack Barnes talks with Master Sand Sculptor and OPA Board Member Mark Venit on the beach at Ocean City.6/11/2005." )

This guy has been here and doing this forever! I remember him from the early/mid 80s. Yeti, you were a lifeguard down near the boardwalk? We used to go to the highrises around 98th St. I grew up loving OC - Jolly Rogers, the mini golf (Old Pro? something like that?) and Phillips... To me, summer never really started until we crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on the way to OC...

Yes I guarded there for years: I sat North Pier, Caroline, and Talbot Streets which are all within shouting distance of the Jesus Guy. Also 20th street crew chief chair, and I ran the 27th Street OCBP substation.
I sat some seats up in the condos, but they weren't to my liking. While there were *tons* of rich white chicks up there to pick up, I liked to have more action in the water so I sayed on the boards where I could peel of a couple of pulls (rescues) a day.
Downtown is a real ghetto, a disgusting dump. I loved it, but now you couldn't pay me to go back there.

I don't know how you managed to insert that line at the bottom of the sculpture but that was not very nice of you to do. That would not be something that Jesus would say.BrockVond wrote:good idea. Dude.. you did that just to piss off the Christians here. You know most of us are not like that. Why do you have to be a dick about it?BrockVond wrote:good idea. Us? Try speaking just for yourself. You'll do much better. As a Christian myself, you certainly don't speak for me.pizzamoose wrote: Dude.. you did that just to piss off the Christians here. You know most of us are not like that.
#1, get a sense of humor and take your own advice to stop taking things so seriously.
Not very Christian of you to call me that. Listen pal, i'd rather be a dick than a hypocrite any day. I guess if I photoshop some more lesbian porn, that's fine, but touch some sand sculpture and I'm a dick. What a load of hypocritical crap. Why do you have to be a dick about it?

I can't imagine a straight-minded person saying that if they were not a Christian, so if you were a Christian, then why would you say that?? It wasn't appropriate. It's wasn't accurate. It wasn't even funny.
I know why you did that: to piss people off. To be a dick.
All I ask is that you don't be a dick. What's so hard about that?
