He had to put up half of his rights to the collection as leverage to some loans. The distressed debt was recently sold to a hedge fund.

Heard and interview with Paul McCartney one day. He stated how he was talking to Michael Jackson about investments and gave him the idea of buying up song rights. Next thing he knows, MJ brought up the rights to the Beatles song library :lol:
