Re: What book are you currently reading?
For anyone who has any interest in American history, WWII, FDR, construction, or the Ford Motor company, this book is absolutely fascinating:
The Arsenal of Democracy: FDR, Detroit, and an Epic Quest to Arm an America at War
It's about how FDR had to mobilize a nation that was totally unprepared for war and how the Ford Motor company switched from building cars to building heavy bombers and built a massive bomber plant outside of Detroit which was the largest factory in the world at the time in order to meet their commitment of producing a bomber an hour, mostly the B-24 Liberator heavy bomber which was the work horse of the USAF used to bomb the hell out of Germany. It's about how we basically out manufactured Hitler to win WWII. They shot our planes out of the sky left and right which were flown by mostly inexeperienced US pilots but we just kept coming with more and more of them until we finally gained total air superiority and then basically bombed Germany flat. The survival rate of US airmen was amazingly low prior to air superiority, I think it said that after 7 missions you were done but very few every survived that long.
It's also a fascinating look into the Ford Motor company at that time and Henry Ford's strained relationship with his only son Edsel.
Great read, everyone I know that has read this book was totally blown away by it.

Re: What book are you currently reading?
Miss Tiller and I are on the last couple of pages of The New Ann Rice...
Ms. Tilly likes it when they attack. She is a bad puppy dog.
On deck, Tom Clancy "Oath of Office" written by a ghost writer. It's a first edition! Doubt they'll be a 2nd.
K4, Yea Ford was a neat guy. I think it was Ioccoca who took Gia's design and built the Mustang. A sports car the working man can buy.

For a good laugh and a few tears, Dave Barry's Lessons from Lucy. A day's read on the beach. Dave Barry always cracks me up and his latest book was no exception.

Re: What book are you currently reading?
Oath of Office
Tom Clancy butt he's dead so Marc Cameron.
This is about the spy games going on around the world as The United States prepares to nuke Iran. The beginning was boilerplate spy stuff: putting cell phones in minifridges, sex and torture. Then Cameron does a nice job developing characters... Of course there are loose nukes. This is a good summertime read. Last one I read was ops center. The books read like a cross between R. Ludlum and Mitchner.
In the end it's a book.
Edit: It does have maps when you need them and helicopters.
