Killington Option Tax
VOTE YES ON AN AMENDED ARTICLE 8 I would like to summarize some recent developments and report on the attempts by the Selectboard to negotiate a reasonable compromise that would be palatable to John Cumming. You should be aware that Mr. Cumming is the only Powdr/Killington employee making decisions ...

Skiing or tubing?
Tubing at Pico, I like. Add skiing...well, still need a lot of bodies. And something to attract them, good lessons, good social scene...

Snowfall
Somewhere betwen 3 million and 5.3 million. Milli milli meters, of course.
That's like counting the 200 trails, in segments, of course.
Or like counting $2,000,000 of someone else's money.
But who's counting?

Night skiing
Wonderful idea, but you need bedrooms close to the MOuntain, like Ski Sundown in Connecticut. Very successful with minimal vertical. Bu they do a great job of grooming and service the novice skiers. Great busines model for a small ski area.
Not 20,000 like Rutland, but more like 500,000 population.

Capital improvements-revised
AS of this morning, Nyberg has changed his explanation: $5,000,000 of expenditures. $3,000,000 capital and $2,000,000 of maintenance expenditures, including painting etc. In addition, he said, the owners of the Grand Hotel spent $2,000,000. I'm not sure why Killington would discuss what the Grand Ho...

Thanks. WE're doing many of the actions you've recommended, but not all. Most people here want to use the real estate developmentt approval process as a lever to force action. I'm concerned about that as the 'first thing" we shoud do. The big stick should not be used too often or it gets weak w...

Poster or Participant?
The reality is that some of us have to try to work through some of these issues, in person. Some really good thoughts presented...but there is no way that Powdr will reconsider its actions in a majority of the areas. We can agrue about whether they're right or not, but my belief is they will stick t...

Killingtons Profitability and why Otten is not around now
The 2006 SEC filing for ASC shows Killingotn(including Pico) with 795,000 skier visits. At one time that was 1,100,000 to 1.200,000. That's a loss of 3-400,000 skiers, and with revenues of $60 per skier, that's a loss of $20,000,000 in revenues. ASC lost about $40,000,000 in 2006. That includes all ...

Powdr's motives
Powdr's mission is to provide the general public with a challenging and entertaining alpine mountain experience . It's not their mission to "exceed expectations", though some of their folks have stated that. It's not their "mission" to make $x, or X % margins(although that is wha...

Board Meeting
Patience folks... Good things take time, and a little pain. Do you think Chris Nyberg left a nice job and decided he could come to Killington and lie to a bunch of people and leave with his wallet stuffed with cash? Do you think that Steve Selbo thinks he can finesse the Town residents, Selctboard a...
