Re: Wildcat Mountain closing......too cold to ski
Usually if your fingers and toes are cold, you are not adequately keeping your core warm enough. If your core temperature is not being maintained your body redirects bloodflow from your hands and feet, this is the cold you are feeling. I skied a total of 12 hours the past two days and never once exp...

Re: Roads with B Fest crowds?
It's 30mph and one lane each way from Sugar & Spice to right around Journey's End road. It's back to 50 and two lanes uphill, one downhill the rest of the way.
No biggie.

So it would be possible to drive from Rutland, to Ludlow via 103, and Ludlow to Killington via 100? Any access issues entering Killington using this route?

Re: WCAX TV Story on Mendon/Journey's End Route
Bubba,
I'm about to become very familiar with the Journey's End route as I will need to begin taking the Bus option into Killington starting next week. Is there anyone who has firsthand experience with this?

Salomon XA Pro 3d Ultra GTX I slipped on a few pairs, and while these were more expensive, the second my foot slid into them, I was sold. So supportive, so comfortable. Sizing is a little strange. Big toe area is fine, but my pinky toe is cramped. Might be my foot structure though. Shoe is a little ...

Pine Hill Park, Rutland - Post Irene Conditions
Got a chance to get out yesterday evening at Pine Hill Park in Rutland. Needed a break from all of the work of this past week. Went to Pine Hill expecting to mainly survey trail damage... ...Ended up riding singletrack that was in AMAZING condition. May be better than before the storm. Trouble spots...

Ask and ye shall receive.
The road work crews cannot deal with passenger cars coming through all day long. It interrupts their work and will slow the rebuilding process.

Excavators are picking out asphalt, debris and rubble out of Glen Dam in Rutland, which is a little over a mile downstream. Since there were no other road losses on the way to Glen Dam after Route 4, I'm going to say a good portion ended up at that point.

UV - I think you are referring to the heli rescue on Cold River on Route 7 south of Rutland... It was VT AOT employees. They were stranded on a sandbar when the river rapidly rose.
They were extracted safely.

Re: Damage at K
I question how much grading would have helped. The volume of water overwhelmed everything, rerouting entire streambeds.
Perhaps though, at the headwaters it may have worked.

As would I.
Saw somewhere yesterday that Irene will likely get into the Top 10 most costly Hurricanes to date.

Re: Travel from Lake George/Whitehall to Stowe possible?
I can't speak for NY, but someone else might be able to. Once in VT, Route 4 to Rutland is open, and you can take Route 7 North to Burlington. There is a detour in Brandon, but as long as you are a passenger car, it's passable. Then in Burlington, it is possible to get to Stowe from Burlington witho...

Re: Damage at K
Work crews are doing amazing work. Obviously the streams need to be rebuilt, but they are really making it happen out there.
