Re: Current Weather at 2200' . . .

Correct, I do not see any short window of bonafide cold weather for the next couple of weeks. So Ops will have to maximize every single hour of nightime cold air that they get, pump out like crazy even if its only 6 or 8 hours in the dark. Preston's Pitch will be the real challenge to get the requir...

Re: K town moves closer to Rental Regulations

Get an intern or two from the Killington School of Resort Management, and twice a year (address the winter business in the fall, the summer business in the spring) They would work over the same internet sales listings that they claim identifies 931 Killington units. Easy to do, don't need a software...

Re: Tarps?

Spent a week there a long time ago, do not remember the alpine pond, but I think that section gets served by the Hannenkambahn tram then a chair to the top. That side is the shady side, maybe that's the big difference between meltout and survival. I wonder how they fight the melting underneath where...

Re: K town moves closer to Rental Regulations

Don't forget second floor fire escape capability. Stairs, ladders, ropes, and proven egress to execute an evacuation. Every local or second homeowner invites friends to stay with them. Maybe nothing to do with skiing or summer vacationing. Doing this JUST ONCE should require 100% of the town homeown...

Re: Current Weather at 2200' . . .

My amateur opinion is that snowmaking weather in the North Ridge will be fair at night starting Wed, getting a bit better Thur and staying decent nightly for consecutive days. But not enough for 24 hour a day snowmaking, and not getting into the teens overnight which yields those high production num...

Re: The SRQ, the Crossover, & the Depodification of Killingt

Good point. I have seen the same effect in recent years. Not every suggestion or thought can be incorporated due to costs, safety, validity, regulatory or environmental but it looks like a lot of things have changed over time, some obvious some not so obvious. I feel that more are on the way. Certai...

Re: CHANGE SNOWDON SIX TO STRAIGHT LOAD.

Seems like a little coaching by the attendants would get people paying more attention, educating most on the best way to avoid creating a stoppage, and giving customers a feeling that things are under control. But I never see anyone on the S6 speaking. Customers are left to their own insecurities, c...

Re: CHANGE SNOWDON SIX TO STRAIGHT LOAD.

Perhaps 2-3 years ago Mike Solimano was gracious enough to explain that the Rams Head quad used to run faster (forgot the number, maybe 1,000FPM), but it created additional stops due to bottom loading or top unloading issues. So the average time running was reduced, thus dropping uphill capacity. Th...

Re: North Ridge Quad

Oops. good point. I forgot to mention that my observations are for a weekends/holidays/sick days skier, about 55-60 at Killington plus other places. All those midweek beauties are reserved for those who have been able to plan their life a little better than I have. For those lucky enough to avoid we...

Re: North Ridge Quad

What suffering? We will be skiing while the rest of New England rakes leaves. Then in short order Ops expands terrain and the temporary issue goes away. No one said a word about the former lift except that we wished it did not stop so often and maybe ran faster. The crowds will be there regardless f...

Re: North Ridge Quad

We won't be surprised by an increased crush of out of control bodies heading downhill. That many more going up per hour means that many more going downhill per hour. Really would love to see weather conditions that lets them open up both blue trails and the Great Northern alternative that brings you...

Re: Current Weather at 2200' . . .

Looking ahead at Oct. 29-31 there seems to be cold air at night below 30 down on the access road, so up top there might be a fair amount of hours per day for production for consecutive days. Which would yield a Friday passholders opening of Nov. 1. Maybe a soft opening of 3pm Oct. 31 just so they ca...

Re: Occurred to me today that the Skyship

If anyone ever took the time to go down the main trails to Skyeship base (not early morning/late day), you would see a lot of customers on those trails and good traffic in the lodge. Sure they have less skill on average, but they are paying customers just are not on the more popular trails or lodges...

Re: Tunnel update

Good point. I forgot that section of Chute was cut out. Only the small exit to the right towards the Bunny tunnel exists there now. GB will provide a main route down to the bottom Chute/Great Bear. Upper GB seems blue, but the bottom will be black based on pitch. Seeing how they block off the other ...

Re: Tunnel update

That looks great and its still mid-October. I imagine that the tunnel overhead will be groomed, but with the snowmaking added on upper/lower I would expect to see bumps most of the time top to bottom. It will lighten up the traffic elsewhere and make for a great choice off the 6 pack. Maybe a pipe w...
