Re: Uphill Travel liability?
well that really sucks. was afraid that this might happen. the website talks about it being a social distancing thing. hope that's the reason and it wasn't because of the rescue, the gates and probably some other idiots that we haven't heard about. probably a combination. many of us go for "na...

Re: Good news- OPEN ski areas! Alyeska, Cannon and others
Gunstock, Waterville Valley and Bretton Woods also remain open; Live Free or Die  You must be under 30 or just dumb. My post was not an attempt to advocate for or against visiting any of these locations, but was simply an acknowledgement that they remain open. The added fact that they are in ...

Re: NSR - Cape Air
I've flown from Lebanon to Boston a number of times for work. Occasionally in bad weather. I haven't had a flight cancelled yet, but the times can be weather dependent including early departures if they see a storm coming. If they do cancel the flight they will provide ground transportation instead....

Pretty sure this is not true; I think it saw snowmaking in one of the last two seasons.newpylong1 wrote: Fiddle - not used since 2007. Pipe condition questionable.

Re: Record Holiday Weekend For Vermont Ski Areas
Wright said Sunday was Jay’s “busiest day since 2017,” adding that the resort’s total lodging capacity of 900 rooms was “100-percent sold out." I was actually at Jay on Sunday (day trip, no lodging). It was crowded, but lift lines weren't too bad - never more than 10 minutes (except the Tram a...

Lara Bars are my favorite "energy" bar, but that's outside your protein category.

Here in the east Magic Mountain has been capping daily ticket sales for a few years now. That may change when the new Black Lift is finished.

Re: KBL Demo Party
Do we get to "help" or is this a stand on the sidelines and watch someone else have all the fun event? Bring your own sledge hammer? Will Mahogany Ridge be emptied first? Of liquor, not people, duh. You'll have to tear it down around the last call brigade. Maybe they should have one final...

Re: Utah Car Rental Advice
Thanks to all for the advice. My lodging is down in SLC, but is free since I'm staying with some friends. They have to work though, so most days I'll be on my own to get to the resorts. I think my current plan will be to have a standard sedan-style rental and then utilize the UTA ski bus on any days...

Utah Car Rental Advice
I am searching for a bit of advice and the accompanying mocking, jokes and insults. I'm planning a trip to SLC in late February. It is my understanding that there are chain laws in Utah that apply when it snows. I want to ski mostly the Little and Big Cottonwood Canyon Resorts and don't want to be s...

Re: Question About the Alpine Training Venue Poma
The nice thing about surface lifts was they taught you to ski going uphill. I wasn't a huge fan of the Poma, but I rode it enough. The load was always a bit dicey for me (but I can't recall ever falling), and it was never a "relaxing" ride up hill. However at least it was fairly quick. Su...
Re: Fan Guns
A grooming buddy told me the other day that they accidentally made to much snow on the bottom of SS this year, likely because of these fans/temps. He said at the time, they weren't quite sure what to do with all of it. Have you seen the mountain in the finish area? The pile at the bottom of Super S...

Re: Fan Guns
Very few ski areas permanently install fan guns aside from the occasional base area tower. This may be the case, but you guys should come down to Crotched Mountain sometime - 100% tower mounted fan gun coverage! There's interesting discussion on here. I didn't mean to cause any strife with this pos...
