Re: tax bill

The wealthy benefit more because they have more resources in play. If I grow my corn on one acre, I don't benefit as much as if I grow 10,000 acres and hedge with corn futures, own my own corn trucks, and invest some of my earnings in other companies. The farmer that spends all he makes and does no...

Re: tax bill

Which views would those be? your whole idea that the wealthy benefit from the fruits of the rest of us...which is EXACTLY what tin pot lizzie said... She might have one or two good ideas. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. liz would do well to achieve broke clock status... Okay.. that's not ...

Re: tax bill

How does the wealthy benefit more? Financially. Boeing builds the airplane. You use the infrastructure when you use the airplane to fly to Denver. Boeing does not use the infrastructure. You do. Yes. And so does American Airlines. They make a lot more money using it than I do. They make so much mon...

Re: tax bill

Mr. Hat I don't even understand your arguments anymore. you don;t seem to want to understand anything but your own politics of envy... You seem to be espousing some notion of fairness in taxation, and that somehow taxing wealthier people at a certain level isn't fair. I'm not sure why you care abou...

Mr. Hat I don't even understand your arguments anymore. You seem to be espousing some notion of fairness in taxation, and that somehow taxing wealthier people at a certain level isn't fair. I'm not sure why you care about being fair to wealthy people since you seem solidly middle class, but okay. I ...

Re: tax bill

Um. Think this through. If there was no police, no railroad, no paved roads, then the milk the diary farmer produces would cost you more as the farmer would have to hire someone to ride shotgun to protect him from the robbers and pay for more fuel on the worse roads and more maintenance on his vibr...

Re: tax bill

Notwithstanding that basic stuff above, how often do their corporations get tax breaks and corporate welfare ? taking less of their money is not welfare... How often do they benefit from policies like the tax bill we are discussing that allow them to keep more and more of their own money ? it's THE...

Re: tax bill

That the sweat on my brow goes mostly to feed my family, with less than a third (to pick a number) going to pay for the government. That if I stay up late at night and invent the next heart valve I get to ski powder at Vail, and not feel guilty about it. That if I invent the next best miracle after...

Re: tax bill

When did I ever deamonize anyone? I just think this tax bill is stupid, and cutting the highest tax bracket is dumb.

To suggest that wealthy people benefit more from our system is not deamonizing, is it? I think they do. I think most people would agree?

Re: tax bill

s entitled to any of your salary. All of us have to pay to maintain our system of government. Why shouldn't the people who benefit the most from the system pay the most to maintain it ? how often do they use the bus, any public transit, send their kids to public school etc? seems those who make the...

Re: tax bill

The truth is we all believe that wealthy people should pay more. No we ALL do not believe that... Even with a flat tax, the higher earners would pay far more than the lower level earners. The only question is the degree to which the wealthy bear the costs of the system. I personally have no problem...

Re: tax bill

again the left argues dollars when it suits their need and percentage when it suits their need always distorting reality in the process... obviously you wholeheartedly embrace the politics of envy... I am not "the left" and last I checked I was a registered Republican, although I am proba...

Re: tax bill

Your Laffer curve was literally drawn on the back of a napkin. It's not mine. The Laffer curve was the economic theory underpinning Reaganomics / supply side economics. There are lots of places you can read more about it if you are interested, but I'm not sure I'm qualified to provide a macroeconom...

Re: tax bill

The wealthiest 1% pay 40% of the federal taxes. Forty percent. I don't see this as a problem, and I'm not sure why you do. I don't see many 1% ers suffering overmuch from being overtaxed as they fly around in their private jets and play on their private yacts. The wealthiest 1% in the US enjoy a st...
