Re: friday 1/19/2018 report
did u ride the canyon quad? Forget the canyon quad did you ride the triple? Wind was intense after mid station and that ice cold cloud fog only made it worse. On another note I saw more accidents today than I have seen at any mountain in a while. Saw a poor kid having a yard sale on the lower secti...

Re: Thoughts after visiting Sunday River
What about putting in more tunnels bridges on trails like great northern? I love that I can get most anywhere on K because of the trail layout but if you kept the majority of the traffic under the steeper drops it would allow navigation while keeping the gappers on launch pad from skiing in front of...

Re: Current Conditions 2200' 17/18
Honestly in the canyon and on Snowdon there was darn near 7 inches MTS and upper Royal Flush skied really well. Ridge run had a bit of powder too even though it was closed. Upper rams had tons of tracks and looked like 5-6.

Re: Labor shortage?
A business that can't pay its workers a living wage probably should go under, since otherwise the government is effectively subsidizing that business. I don't think Killington falls into that category, however. Supply demand curve doesn't really work with a scarce bordering on non-existent resource...

Re: Labor shortage?
I'm guessing a multi unit, multi month contract bid months in advance for use during the off season for construction would see rates far lower than 8k a month. Plus cost of capital. Plus maintenance/repair. You're w-a-a-a-ay beyond 4 years. While I'd love to see fan guns all over a dozen trails, so...

Re: Labor shortage?
They run the compressors from late October to February, and the cold push on Superstar probably doesn't take that much air. That's a little over 4 months, a third of a year. Those compressors are extremely portable, and are used elsewhere the rest of the time. Sounds to me like a picture perfect ca...

Re: Labor shortage?
According to JT the state of VT required Killington to have the latest emissions technology for the diesel engines. Now that we are at final tier 4, and no more stringent technology being law at this point, they may want to buy if that is a cheaper option. Interesting that they still use diesel pow...

Re: Labor shortage?
Peak Resorts certainly did.
One thing I don’t get... If K doesn’t want to invest in their own compressor farm why would they not buy a bunch of fan guns when they upgraded to the low e over the last few years. It would certainly help once they send all the rental air compressors back.

Re: Labor shortage?
Anyone know if it’s labor that seems to be holding up snowmaking after the washout Friday? Killington seems to be doing a lot less than other resorts judging by their conditions report. I was surprised to hear outer limits didn’t start until today.
