wednesday 4/23/25 report
Just a glorious day out there today. Mud season in full effect. 12-3 outing this afternoon—hit everything that was open. Looks like the end of the line for both FIS and Rime, surprised the former even made it this far. Excellent, excellent coverage pretty much everywhere else. Noticed they are selli...

Saturday 4/12/25 Report
late afternoon shift for me today. strange day overall weather wise. upper elevation stuff seemed to be winners mostly. rotd was the upper portion of escapade which was hit a few times. north ridge pod skied well too—cascade was kind of rough not gonna lie (loose granular but with rather large chunk...

Re: Superstar Replacement - No World Cup 2025
kudos to Mike and the mountain for the great communication as always. i’m stoked at the prospect of skiing through the end of May (and maybe beyond if we’re super lucky) on a completely different part of the mountain. the longevity of the season when they bury superstar is obviously unmatched, but i...

Re: (Pico) Birch Glades Double and Summit Poma
another random request: does anyone have pictures of the summit express prior to Poma getting their hands on it? i’m curious at how tall the last few towers were before being shortened. it’s pretty crazy to me that it wasn’t built below tree line in the first place, but obviously it was new tech at ...

Re: Sunday 01/26/2025
1 to 4 mini closing shift for me today. skiers left of downdraft was quite good. middle and right side slick but not totally uncarvable—common theme today. shuffled over to south ridge and hit breakaway. was pretty firm and a bit thin in some spots, was a rare one-and-done run in that pod. upper par...

Re: (Pico) Birch Glades Double and Summit Poma
They use to make snow on lower giant killer. Plus upper giant killer. Pipes are still there but long cut and not operational. awesome shot, thank you so much for taking the time to dig it up and share it! as others have mentioned, i literally have never seen another photo of it in operation and am ...

lol fair enough. as someone with greater knowledge of mountain logistics than I, care to elaborate on either?newpylong1 wrote: ↑Jan 21st, '25, 19:11 Scratch the Outpost Poma and summit Double off, those are non-starters.

Re: Pico 2037 (imagine if you will)
here’s something exactly zero people asked for, but this is somewhere between what i hope/expect pico to look like in the relatively near future (decade or two). there obviously are countless nuances and contingencies, and the prospect of the interconnect could certainly alter this, but this is wher...

Re: (Pico) Birch Glades Double and Summit Poma
I have no idea if or when it will ever be prioritized, but I think a new lift for Birch Glade would a great addition. If they were to add snowmaking to Birch Glade and Lower Giant Killer, then you'd be able to get to 4 trails off it (including Mid Pike and Mid KA), plus Birch Woods and Poma Glades....

(Pico) Birch Glades Double and Summit Poma
An oddly specific, un urgent request here but was curious if anyone who sees this has photos of either lift during its operation? I have found two images of the Birch Glades buried in old NELSAP fourms but cannot for the life of me find any others. As for the poma I have looked high and low as well ...

Re: wednesday 2/21 report
Started the day at the place where nobody goes, though I must admit I was slightly surprised at how full the lot was. Lapped all open trails off the summit. Was initially questioning the closure of upper GK but that notion immediately faded into oblivion after skiing upper Pike. In its current state...

Brief Thoughts on Outpost and Pico
As some folks pointed out yesterday, in spite of being 100% open, Outpost did not run at Pico. Obviously we’re all familiar with the typical brief shimmy from the top of the Golden (and not running the left certainly helps preserve the snow) so there are certainly some silver linings to not running ...

Re: Fentanyl found in marijuana
Fentanyl is causing many deaths here in Long Island. We think our daughter died from it but we have to wait for the toxology report to come back and these days it takes over 6 months to get that report due to the many deaths that are occurring. The police still are investigating our daughter's deat...

Re: Camelback Nightmare
Unreal things like this can still occur. From what I gather the lift is from the mid 90’s but utilizes older parts from the 80’s. Sounds like a serious mechanical failure...it would be next to impossible for people to physically bounce the chair off the wire. Not to mention how Camelback seemingly b...
