Re: New lift planned
I don't really anticipate them switching. All of their detachables and most of their fixed grips are Poma. If they were to switch to Doppelmayr, then the entire lift maintenance staff would have to completely relearn how to do their jobs. And then they'd need to work with two manufacturers to keep ...

Re: New lift planned
Doppelmayer people are in town. For the new lift. Not this one. It would be a pretty big deal for K to go with Dopp. It's been nearly an all Poma operation for a very long time. Given the issue with Needles and timeline to get replacement parts - maybe its time for a change. They would be smart to ...

Re: Spring Shrinkage Schedule ?
Agreed, you couldn't pay me to get on the K-1 in mid-winter unless I really really need to get up there.
Skyeship on the other hand is where I start and end my day. From the top of Skye Peak you can get anywhere.

Re: Spring Shrinkage Schedule ?
I rather see either Stage 2 or Needles run than NR too. Better use of staff to get people access to terrain otherwise inaccessible.

Re: SkyeShip Gondala > Number of busted chairs..
It did go to the peak 93-95 whatever the name of it was then. At least a couple of those years. I still remember doing a faceplant coming down that trail near the bottom! LOL and going back up on the gondola to the peak bleeding and going to the bathroom to clean my bloody face. Do you not remember...

Re: Spring Shrinkage Schedule ?
Not all that crazy considering it's going to go real quick now and it's a ghost town. r*in yesterday, pouring today, more r*in next week and 50 degree days.

Re: SkyeShip Gondala > Number of busted chairs..
Skyeship never went all the way to the top, assume you mean the old K Gondy? I am not a mountain biker but one has to think the terrain would be quite amazing down to Route 4. I am thinking all of those natural only trails like lower Home Stretch, etc that weave in and out of GE would be gold for MT...

Re: 105" in the last 26 days
Here's what I came up with. Please tell me if I have any inconsistencies as I was in Utah March 14-18 where we got like a foot in Killington 3/10 Su 12" wet/dense snow 3/11 M 14" upslope snow following the previous system. Wind picked up and temps dropped drying out priors days snowfall (...

Re: SkyeShip Gondala > Number of busted chairs..
I think the best of both worlds at this point is new Sigma 8 cabins just like K-1 received. That would require no major overhauls and resolve one of the longstanding issues that is getting worse. If that puts SS or RH replacement back a year so be it, both of those lifts are functional and from the ...

Re: SkyeShip Gondala > Number of busted chairs..
Get rid of all that crap below bear. No more skyship. No more trails. Focus on the stuff where people go. Like mentioned above, who is going to invest $15m on new stuff that low in elevation that gets minimal use. Scale back! Yeah, they should keep scaling back. Might as well get rid of everything ...

Re: SkyeShip Gondala > Number of busted chairs..
No one wants to close Route 4, and it will never be closed. Can you imagine the headlines of Killington now being 1900 vertical instead of 3000? Like a fart in church... That's on top of the fact that the value of all of those properties clustering 4 Mile and GE would be slashed. They would face ope...

Re: SkyeShip Gondala > Number of busted chairs..
Yes, Mike can blow smoke up people's asses and tends to duck the hard issues. They need to come up with a Skyeship investment plan and make that knowledge public. However if I was in his shoes (and I have been) and I received an email like that out of the blue that is EXACTLY the type of response if...
