Re: The Interactive Trail Guide Sucks
The original interactive was done by Dwight, who posts here once in a blue moon. He went on to Copper, subsequently bought by POWDR. Copper has a gorgeous interactive. K'd been very slow getting it up in the fall, but I still like it. Much better than say, SRs, which is awful. Like to watch what th...

I agree, I just think it's funny how this board makes villains out of certain people, when you or I have no idea who made what decision.JerseyGuy wrote:Fact is, there SHOULDN'T be a difference between marketing and operations, conceptually speaking.

Mad River Glen? Oh, please. They have found themselves a clever marketing niche which works for them, but wouldn't work for anyone else. And let me emphasize: their marketing is brilliant. Did you say marketing? Not allowing snowboards is not a marketing strategy, it's a decision by the shareholder...

Re: The Impact of Social Media
You can't go that cheap, you have to include the heated weather proof housing. also lots of them are mounted high so you have to get ones that are motorized so you can control them remotely.

[ Trail report: --What's open today, tomorrow, and for the weekend (acres, trails, miles, whatever). Same thing with the lifts. Snow making report: --What trails are getting snow, how many guns, gallons up the hill, and/or acre feet per hour. When you got it, flaunt it. Weather: --Whats the outlook ...

Re: The Impact of Social Media
Their WWW site, which is still their primary means of communication whether they like it or not, has tumbleweeds blowing through it. I'm not sure why you believe that their site is stagnant? Other than snow, lift, trail info, photos and videos, what should be changing on a daily basis on a ski reso...

Re: Favorite Meal in Killington?
The best Pizza is by far Domenic's, Outback was good when I first moved to K (over 6 years ago), but the quality has gone down every year since.
The best breakfast sandwich is from the Deli, by the post office.
The lookout has the best staff and a pretty good Cheesesteak.

Re: Why people don't ski Killington
It's a Marketing function to have events every weekend that are fun and get people here. It's a Marketing function to have bands and DJs in the base lodges or to have clowns and other kid friendly stuff down at Snowshed and Ramshead so people stick around a little longer at the end of their ski day...

Re: Why people don't ski Killington
Dwight, that's all well and good, but senior management/new ownership made a clear decision to drive out the lower paying customers last year and now they, through Marketing, have to spend more money trying to attract them back. That's the key point. I don't actually blame Marketing for the decisio...

Re: Why people don't ski Killington
Marketing 101, let's say, third day of class: It is easier and less costly to retain existing customers than to obtain new ones . Obviously, K-Marketing skipped class that day. (Or skipped the course entirely.) It is Marketing's job to bring in the customers, it is operations job to retain them. Wh...
