I wonder if they cut back their snowmaking window so that it doesn't cover March anymore, so they have to do Superstar now rather than later. I wouldn't put it past them.

uh no, stop being such a pessimist. would be surprised if this is the final build. there's usually an intermediate build on superstar before the final march build. last year started on feb 10. previous year on jan 23. ovation's also on the docket for this weekend though a little warm today. probably tonight. should be able to run into wednesday.

you can make a case that there's other trails that should be done before supe but really the only trail on that side of the mtn they haven't hit is vertigo. hopefully it does get snowmaking but many years it doesn't. and conclusion hasn't seen any in years and no one wants to incur the captain's wrath.

on the back side, there's upper WF and pipedream remaining after they finish the dream, stash & halfpipe builds. maybe they surprise us w the fiddle. we'll see whether they do upper dream which was done last season for the 1st time in a number of years.

yeah it's rare but it usually gets a at least a groom a season. no snow in the forecast and there's a lot of ice underneath so though i hate losing the bumps, probably for the better. the bumps will reform. escapade, ridge run, middle o, great bear & upper wildfire also got grooms recently.

the snowmaking on supe & ovation will make a great backdrop for the subaru winterfest - fwiw probably a marketing opp.

Pipe lit up pretty good. Woulda been nice to get Grizzly pushed out and open for another way down the Bowling Alley there.

Interesting strategy on Ovation so far. Skip the two parts that really need the snow (HW and Lower) and only do the middle.

Ride up the Snowshed double (forgot how fast that ran when.it doesn't stop every minute), all the rentals are disconnected, so they're just using in house air.

actually looks like they did make some snow on the HW. didn't ski it because it looked manky and needed to be skied in. and when i pulled in around around 7:30 looked like they were making snow on the lower section but quickly shut it down. similar on supe. they had made snow on the HW and upper and shut it down as well. but yes interesting "strategy".

When I skied past on Launch Pad I thought it was apparent the headwall hadn't been touched and the guns were all rimed over good. They also had the top most 5 or so guns on Middle off as well.
