The V8 isn't much worse then the Inline 6 that you can get in the Grand. I it is about 1-2mpg less.

If you are looking at a Limited. Ask them if the Blend Doors have been replaced in the jeep. Check to make sure that you are getting heat and air conditioning on both sides of the car. If you are getting heat on one side and cold on the other it means that the blend doors are broken and need to be replaced. If that is the case make sure they fix them before you buy the car, it is a very expensive fix, about $1200 through the dealership becuase it involves removing everything in front of the front seats all the way down to the firewall to fix it.

check out www.jeepsunlimited.com and www.wjjeeps.com, those will give you a lot of information regarding what the options were on different models.

They don't sell the in-line 6 no mo. It is all V-6, I believe 3.7 litre. The in-line was 4.0 and a work horse.

It is a 4X4, or full time 4 wheel drive. only Subaru seems to get decent mileage. figure 18 to 22 if you are lucky on any Jeep, unless you buy a 4X2 which is useless.

You're correct regarding the inline 6, but since he was looking at a 2004 then it would have been an option for that model year.

car-sat for a buddy of mine who was away for a while... i think it was as 2003 , but know it was a limited. it was quite possibly the hottest week last summer and the AC quit completely... actually was blowing out hot air. also, the power seats sh*t the bed after the 2nd adjustment. the full-time 4WD was nice, except for the night it r*ined and all the oil on the road bubble to the surface, causing unplanned (but fun!) 4 wheel drifts around sharp, unlit, dangerous corners in northern VT. the bmw 740iL was much more fun :-)

Better late than never. Own a 2001 Limited. Bought the extended warranty for $1000. Has saved me over $5000. No major problems, but tons of little stuff...auto seats stopped moving, heated seat stopped working, 7 oxygen sensors, water pump, tailgate latch, heater core fan, and auto headlight problem. Only the water pump stopped it from running...
