Should we bother with our annual Opening Day Contest....
this year?
Does it make any sense to run an opening day wine competition if Killington has already announced their opening day and we have no confidence that they'd alter it based on conditions?

Help me here. What would be the difference between this and picking the opening date?tyrolean_skier wrote:Yes for me too. Maybe we can make it a little different. Guess the date that Mother Nature may force an earlier opening than planned by POWDR.MrsG wrote:I voted yes, since I read it as follows:

The difference would be that if you pick the published opening date, you get one kick in the ass for each bottle of wine you collect.Bubba wrote:Help me here. So what you're saying is, there is no differnece than when ASC called the shots since they opened whenever they felt like it. Cept these guys named a date that means nothing?Bubba wrote:this year?

If they pick a day too early, and don't hit it, they'll look like idiots. If they pick a day too late, skiers will be pissed, and they'll look like idiots. If they manage to pick the right day, and there's a ton of snow, people will say it was just dumb luck, and they'll look like idiots. In other words, anybody placing bets on East Coast weather, is, well, an idiot. So put me down for November 17th!

To quote Spin, "as weather and conditions allow" or something like that , so I would say if Mother Nature delivers early, they will open!
