A bit wrong, Mr. Bling.

It went down a little differently ... they striked first (partially due to a verbal confrontation between these two men and one of my buddies) and it wasn't until they were on the receiving end that they pulled out their badge(s). Turns out, only one of the two were actually Cops, the other was a correctional officer. Today, neither are officers.

You are correct that this was the icing on the cake for my view on Police, but other situations occurred during my youth and late teens years that also contributed to my disgruntlement.

I can be a butt wipe when I'm drunk, but for the most part, that's in the past and I've taken steps to change things. I've become more mature these days and I am much more "chill" today.

As for Johnny Law, not sure what you mean, sorry.

I have no faith in officers until I get to know them and that's the unfortunate result of bad Cops I've dealt with.

*I use Cops because it's easier to type, not because I want to belittle you, FYI :D
Listen jibmeister, you're biased as all hell. That's obvious. There is a heck of a lot you might have seen but much you don't understand. I could go on all day. I certainly can't claim being unbiased myself, but I guarantee I could fill in a whole lot of blanks for you and change your mind on some things if you really wanted to be objective.

I'll be at race camp for the week of Dec. 3rd. Last year we usually went to the Lookout after skiing for some wings and a few beers. Not sure what this year will bring, but if you're around town and see me in there, come on over and we'll shoot the shiite over a cold one. I'm sure you can spot me!

You're right, but at least I make it known I'm biased ... and I have reason to be biased. Maybe I don't understand, but I've shared my disgust with officers, but no one ever explained the gaps I noticed.

My buddy who was robber over the summer in downtown Philly is the son of a Police Officer in Chicago and he also agreed that the procedures being followed in Philly were questionable, but I took that at face value.

I might be around, depends a lot on my financial situation, but I'll certainly let you know.

Oh, and uhm, welcome to the board! It's not ALWAYS this bad ... I'm sure Johnny the Jibber would love to join our discussion too, he's a cool dude.

Tell that to the 40+ people who've died from being Tasered.
Clueless. And wrong. people have died AFTER being tasered. Except for maybe one or two questionable cases, nobody has died FROM being tasered alone and as a result of the taser itself.

Clearly you'd prefer not to believe every medical examiner in the country, but rather the usual speculative, emotional, non-scientific hype from groups with a political agenda and the rest.

I'll piss up a rope anyhow anyhow and remind you that most findings in these cases showed that victims died from extreme drug reactions, cocaine psychosis and the like. They happened to be tasered while their brains and core body temperatures were frying their organs on the inside. They cooked, they died. Its all on record.

Oc course there is no lawsuit money to be made by buying into the medical facts. You believe whatever you want to believe though.

nctimes.com wrote:SAN LEANDRO, Calif. -- The city has agreed to pay $395,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by the family of a man who died after police officers repeatedly shocked him with Taser stun guns.

San Leandro City Council on Monday approved the settlement with the family of Jose Maravilla Perez Jr. without admitting any wrongdoing in the case, according to City Attorney Jayne Williams. The city also agreed to fund an insurance annuity to benefit Perez's children.

The federal civil rights suit, which sought $10 million in damages, alleged that officers choked and shocked the 33-year-old Perez in October 2005 "without just provocation or cause."

Authorities defended the officers' actions, saying the former Oakland forklift operator may have been on drugs and violently resisted their efforts to subdue him. Police were investigating Perez for allegedly violating a restraining order

The Alameda County coroner showed that Perez sustained a fractured neck and 21 Taser applications. It listed the cause of death as "methamphetamine intoxication associated with physical exertion."
If it was due to the drugs, why did the city pay out if they weren't at fault?

Recreational racer is the best I can ever claim. I do a few A.S.R.A. races, etc. Race occasionally with the Grumman Ski Club. Race camp was very good last year. K-mart did an excellent job with that! Skied with the very impressive Mr. "Jimmy Mac." Great guy.

I highly recommend the race camp for shaking out all the early season dust, and the price is one of the few bargains left to be had there these days.

You been to any of those camps?

Jibber, jibber....dude, listen....how do I know? Again, it does say "after" being shocked - not "because of." Am I correct? Those details do matter.

They "settled." That's sometimes a purely financial necessity as much as I dislike it. It happens all the time. Every municipality's bottom line is to save money above all else. If they felt that settling would be less costly than to pay the legal fees to defend themselves, then that's often why its done. And what the hell, on the other hand, the lawyers wanted TEN MILLION and they settled for less than a twentieth of that. Why do you think they took that and ran jibber?

MAYBE the city did feel they'd lose the lawsuit however. Maybe the cops did do something wrong. The lawsuit claimed the cops choked the guy. The guy had a broken neck. Doesn't mean the cops broke it, but maybe they felt the jury would be skeptical (not to mention overly sympathetic in disregard of the facts - often leading to weak juries throwing other people's money at folks just because they feel bad for the family).

Nowhere does any of this indicate a taser killed the guy. Sorry. You only reinforced what I said earlier, i.e. "methamphetamine intoxication associated with physical exertion.

Sorry the evidence is not nearly as one sided as you are suggesting.
1.3 Taser related deaths and coroners' reports.
An increasing number of coroners have begun to register tasers as either the main cause of death or as a contributory factor. Although in most cases the cause of death is listed as "excited delirium", often as a result of cocaine intoxication, in 23 cases out of the 152 the medical examiner or coroner performing the autopsy has cited taser as a contributory factor.(10) In seven cases the autopsy has listed taser as a primary cause of death and has classified the death as a homicide.
