I consider this warm hearted humor, not vicious personal attacks. If management here would get up in front of a crowd and acknowledge their mistakes of last year with a bit of self-deprecating humor, they'd go a long way toward repairing the damage to their credibility.
Well I guess that's my whole point. Your "light hearted humor" may not be the same to them.

Have only met the man a few times so I don't know his humor type.

But no one likes being made fun of and most people really have no sense of humor when it is directed at them.

I agree with you Snobrdr. Nice attracts nice, nasty attracts nasty.

One post mentioned about all the people that heard of Kzone and of all the people that have signed on this board so today I did a little survey myself . I received 32 phone calls at my office in Killington Vermont. I asked every person that I spoke to if they ever heard of the Kzone or the Killington Chat and they said NO. Not one person every heard of this site. I will continue to ask everyone that calls or comes into my office, or anyone that I meet around town. I will keep you posted of the results.

Once the season is under way I talk to at least 100 people a day on the phone and on weekends I talk to at least that many in person. I deal with at least 100 first or second homeowners in Killington on a weekly basis and will start to ask them if they every heard of Kzone.... I am not trying to discredit the facts that there are people that know about this site, but I do believe that there is a much larger number of people that do not know of this site and that the influence this site has on Killington's decisions is zero.

No need to flame, this is just my opinion. Its just a chat bored.... :zzz (i know board).

Have a great day! :seeya

I was going to post a q to the admins asking what info they'd be willing to share on number of... is it unique visitors? not page views, but how many new people come on here for info.

I've always been under the im;pression that the board is roughly the same 40-50 people who participate and contribute, likely another couple hundred who read here regularly and that's about it. There's good info here and knowledgeable posters no doubt, but I doubt it has the impact many think it does.

prove me wrong.. and i dont care about registered forum members. 5 people likely make up half of those.

Ok, I agree with twilkas, this thread should be split to another, but, I'm curious - (again) . . . how many of you copy threads from KZone and send them to friends/co-workers/acquaintences :ear :seeya

i just didn't want to keep bumping that thread title is all, you did it right. :-)

I guess the impossible to figure numbers would be just the thing you mention, that unmeasurable component of posts/info forwarded, the conversations with info and content from this site, etc.

Whoever in the original thread talked about the 6 degrees of separation I think is right on. Not all my friends check the board, but I sure let them know what is going on when I see them.

I think there is a decent amount of impact from the board and the dissemination of information.

This may have made the thread a little confusing but I merged the posts from the other thread into this one.

Edit: If you're confused, just reference the post title, the posts from the other thread still have the photo caption title.

I rarely post, but check out the board for updates on the current mountain conditions as well as new mountain happenings up at k - and especially like the pics posted as they give me a realistic expectation of whether I should make a 6 hour trip up friday after work. I utilize kzone as my killington info site over the resorts website in regard to ski conditions. however, of all the people in my group who go up to VT at least 2 weekends/month and the one who is a homeowner, not one person had heard of kzone until last year when i brought it up to them. when everyone checked it out, they all thought the pics and some topics were pretty cool to check out during the week, but everyone grew sick of sifting through the bitching to find actual ski related info. Therefore, i am basically the only one who still checks it out. I find it comical that people on this board think they have a say in how killington is run, this is nothing more than an informal setting of like minded people discussing a hobby. Killington is not a mom pop resort which is strongly influenced by the few die hards, it is run by corporate execs, who i'm sure are not wasting their time reading this site. However, maybe if this site becomes a little more ski related than the reach would be greater.

I like the Kzone but growing tired of the useless bashing of Powdr. It's there mountain now (good of bad). The mountain will always be the mountain. (Great skiing and riding no doubt). How it operates is in Powdr's hands now (good or bad). They will operate the mountain how they want to. If you like it go there and enjoy and if not that's your choice. The management their now are making changes they think that will help the resort to be a major player in the industry. I have sometimes have fallen into the bashing part, but it's time to move on and see what happens at the K. GOOD OR BAD.
Just get out and ski and ride at your favorite resort this upcoming season.

You've posed an interesting question, twilkas, one that apparently the admins have chosen to ignore. Of course as a private "company" they are well within their rights to keep their "skier visits" number to themselves. Views, is an irrelevant number. All you have to do is hit reload and the count goes up (as does the Bubba's, et al, bill for the server). All we can do is accept at face value their claims that Kzone is successful. They did, after all, "invest" in the fancy new phpBB software a while back. One does have to wonder if the visits over at AZ strictly related to Killington posts outnumber all the visits at Kzone. I'm sure the admins will insist that they are number one, but without the numbers, we are pretty much in the dark.
