Anything groomed that hasn't seen recent snowmaking is pretty firm, but not horrible. The natural trails are slick to the point of suicidal – that’s where you’ll find the best ice.Highway Star wrote:But there isn't any ice...right.....?????Coydog wrote:Went out for a short bit today. Most of the natural snow trails are currently closed for good reason, but overall the mountain is not in terrible shape considering the prevailing crusty snow conditions. Flat and fast.
Best to bring sharp edges.

Was out all day, and Geoff, FYI, Cascade did not suck, . . . .and in fact, was approaching the ROTD... But, sorry, Upper Bittersweet, or possibly Lower Superstar takes that prize ! Things were hard and scratchy early but as the skiing progressed, the conditions improved to nice fluffy powder piles all over.... Ripped runs everywhere today... Blue skies and loads !!! of fun !!!!!!!

Re: Wednesday
Groomer up on Upper Ovation this evening...
I guess they are either getting snowmaking equipment into place, or they are grooming it up. . . . Sounds good to me, whatever they are up to...

The Wednesday pics and report were great. I am thinking of coming up on Friday or Sunday. Which will be the better day? Less crowds on Friday but perhaps better snow on Sunday?

Sunday should be the better of the two...Gladiskie wrote:The Wednesday pics and report were great. I am thinking of coming up on Friday or Sunday. Which will be the better day? Less crowds on Friday but perhaps better snow on Sunday?
Killington will have solid snowmaking days starting tomorrow night... Meaning theres not going to be much in the way of new openings by Friday, but by Sunday they could have some new trails open....
Also, theres a chance of at least 1-3" of snow for Saturday night through Sunday...

Re: Wednesday
Here's my take on Wednesday...
I did not enjoy Cascade. I'm sure i need to work on my technical skills on slick stuff though. It was a very solid surface though.
Superstar was great. A lot of fun ripping that non-stop for about 2 hours.
Reason was fun too!
Bottom of Mouse Trap had some real true ice complete with the greyish groomer track visible.
