How did it work out for those that skied the anniversary weekend in December. What a debacle.
So we can wait until the last minute to purchase and yes this weekend will be great. But without the guarantee, those of us who will buy these weekend tickets , getting screwed by the reminder of the the first event in December hurts Killingtons sale of these passes.
How many of you bought the $50 weekend pass in December? How did you feel with ice storm that trashed what had been great early skiing to get a weekend with a great price and leave your ice skates at home, never mind the crappy weather that came with ice? NOT so great a deal was it? great skiing? I don't think so.
The sarcastic season pass holders can ridicule me all they want and they do. But they buy a pass with an understanding that there are no refunds. Attracting non season pass holders is what the guarantee on a full price ticket does for Killington.
Pissing away $50 or $100 for a weekend with bad conditions without at least a price credit does nothing to promote the event weeks in advance for many day or weekend trippers who don't buy season tickets (maybe we are not LOCALS) and get us to purchase tickets. We have to wait till the last minute.
Since Killington does this for the benefit of skiers like myself, I would buy these discounted tickets well in advance under different circumstances that what is being offered presently. This is called MARKETING.

IIRC, in the old days, you bought your ticket and you got whatever the mountain had to offer...

I'd have to ride 26 days at killington to get $25 per day. It was an insult to all pass holders that in addition to being given that rate, the medallion holders were able to cut in line.
Several guests at my house were able to get vouchers for their full price tickets, but Killington doesn't owe the medallion holders anything. It is clearly stated there is no guarantee for discounted tickets. If you don't like those terms, pony up the extra $32 for a guaranteed ticket.
Besides, this weekend should be money after this storm. Live a little and take the "risk".

The Snow Guarantee only applies to full price tickets. It's a simple guarantee, and does apply to the majority of ticket purchases. That said, you did get a great deal on your lift tickets!

and Loon made the same offer. Turn in your ticket by 11, and receive a voucher that's good
any day for the rest of the season.

Give it up dude, you either buy it and agree to the terms or you don't buy it. Sometimes it really is that simple. The terms of this deal are announced before you buy it and easy to understand (for most people anyway) just like they are for season pass holders. If you want a snow guarantee - which is pretty much useless unless you are the type who abuse the policy - then pony up the rest of the $$$. Sounds like to me that you just want to ski for an hour on Sunday for free (and use the voucher another day) so you can get home in time for your Superbowl party.
And if you think they are doing it for the benefit of the skier and not to generate a little extra revenue on a slow weekend, you are even more stupid than your incoherent post suggests.

Christ Joe, just buy the freakin tickets for $100 and go skiing this weekend and have a good time. 
Take your mind off the economy for a couple days. If I didn't have a season pass I would buy all three weekends this is offered. Before the season pass, we used to buy the MeTickets, the Spring Pass and then grab some coupons to use early the following season. There's so many ways to save a buck out there, especially on the internet!
I've found unbelievable deals on lodging, lift tickets, etc... for out West and the East. If people would just spend a little surfing time they'd find some deals. There's always some deal at most resorts across the USA! I've never payed close to full price for anything relating to skiing/snowboarding. Even got the Marriott at Breckenridge slopeside for $250 for 1 week once from EBAY for a $200+ night condo! $100 for a weekend of skiing at Killington is a good deal. Hopefully soon they'll have the Threedom Spring pass which was $99 for 3 days last season. Probably a little higher this season. There's tons of coupons on EBAY right NOW for lift tickets! Even ones you can just buy and not bid like: Jay Peak 2 for 1 for $5, $16.75 coupon for a 3 day $99 pass to Stowe, Whiteface, Gore, Hunter, etc... http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... category0=

We were pretty pleased with the 50th anniversary medallions in December, though their questionable recovery and general lift chaos would have lefr me with a poor impression if that was my first Killington experience.
More disappointing was booking lodging for Thursday night and the lifts not running at all on Friday, thereby preventing us from buying a full-priced left ticket for the day. No real loss, though wish more of the bars had opened early.
Looking forward to this weekend as well! Snow guarentee -- WTF?!? I assume there's going to be snow on the ground late Janurary and at least some lifts turning -- good enough at this discounted rate.
