What's up for skiing today? How much snow did the mountain get?
If you are skiing have a great day.

Filth factor was at a critical level today. I would say 20". Definitely some ortographic lift induced snow as it's truely dumping up there and mostly cloudy in Rutland townfinn wrote:What's up for skiing today? How much snow did the mountain get?

A little birdie told me it was real good out there today. Of course I wouldn't know since I was home sick from work.

Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, then overwhelm you with their experience.

The amount of snow up there is incredible . . . and it is still snowing . . . hit some thigh deep powder in some of the drifts on Highline - knee deep in a lot of other places on the mountain. Most chairs that would normally be open on a non-holiday Monday were open, inlcuding the Canyon - some started a bit late, but not too late. Did not hit Bear or Needles, but the Superstar, Canyon, Glades and Snowdon faired well with the wind . . . even where it drifted, it was not windblown/scoured/hardpacked . . . Mother Nature done us good
. . . and is still doing so

Thanks for the update. I wish I was there instead of at work today.
Take a run for me.
Yes, I heard that there was 18 inches down on rte. 4 and it's still snowing..Pray for snow.
We want to ski late into May this year.

Today was awesome! Powder everywhere and uncrowded!
Thank god for weekdays! I'll take a few weekdays like today over an entire season of weekends!

thats a cool sounding phrase, i'll have to look up what it means, but i can infer it means major dumpage and we midweek folk deserve ours here and there.ozzy wrote:Filth factor was at a critical level today. bear was funky for third chair, windblown deposits, 4"over the overnighht rollled to windblown exposed ice. kept me on my toes for warmup run. old supe its usual lovely filled in self. worked over to snowdon and it was more consistent there. even sloppy 50ths or whatever on n'star was nice. ate lunch enroute to pico, outpost runs were fun, summit glades and others too.
it's not put it on auto pilot pow, it requires a lot of attention.. kind of going back and forth from bump skiing tech to pow skiing(lots o bump;s under there). tweaked a knee minorly-i hope-(rare) and in an odd incident think i pulled a taint muscle if thats possible.
saw MM, what a surprise on a pow day, phantom briefly.
caseys for wings, still snowing like a pretty good.

Easily the best day of the year. Better than those days back in December.
First bear chair, down the fiddle. Didn't know if I should expect wind crust like the last storm. Nope, utter fluff that kicked up everywhere.
Had my first experience in the white room. Tons of face shots. Choking on snow. I wish I had a beard so my face wouldn't hurt so much. It kept snowing all day, easily picked up another 6 inches. Tracks from first thing this morning are getting filled in. Wind only affected snow on Superstar, everything else was perfect fluff.

Once I made it over to the Canyon - saw no real reason to leave. Tons of soft ,dry, powdery snow everywhere. If you thought something was getting a bit chopped, 2 mins later it was already filled in. 3 runs down Cascade as it was just so nice and not a soul on it.

It wasn't too shabby today. Patsy's had huge snow.
We did some Pipe Dream runs scattered through the day to shoot a little bit of video and regroup from the other runs that were much more work.
This clip has Mister Moose and my buddy Dave who used to post as 'GadgetMan' on the original Killington message board. He & Donna ran the share house that Phantom, Lillywhite, Dancin' Dick et al used to be in. For a guy who had two major back operations and was touch & go whether he'd ever walk again, he's doing pretty well.

Still snowing lightly over here at Sunrise but not as hard as it was the day. I'm not holding my breath for much accum. tonight but who knows these days.
As for pictures, negative on stopping to take a picture. Although I will be using the mental images I took of untouched DF and untouched DD as motivation all summer when it's 90 degrees.
