Customer Dissatisfaction

Post by Bubba »

In the space of 10 minutes, I heard two different groups voice extreme dissatisfaction with Killington this afternoon.

1. We ski down lower Bunny Buster and get to the Snowdon Triple at 3:15, figuring on taking it back up to swing over to the Glades Triple for a few late afternoon runs up there. We get down to about where the corral starts and there's a sign up "Lift Closed" even though the lift is still turning. A father and his kids are there and the guy opens up that he paid $77 for a ticket and they're closing a lift at 3:15? He's really ticked off - maybe more than he should have been - but he had a point. Why shut a lift with only 45 minutes left to go? His question - how much could that possibly save?

2. After leaving the Snowdon Triple, we head over to the K-1 and ride up to the peak with someone from Ski Patrol. We get down the steps at the peak and there's a guy with two teenage girls who stops the patroller to ask if there's a bathroom in the area. They'd taken the gondi up, planning a pit stop at the top, only to find that the building was closed, including the restrooms. He's obviously none too pleased with the circumstances as they now need to ski all the way down to find a bathroom.

In the space of 10 minutes, at least 6 paying customers were turned off to Killington, even though they were all having a good ski day. Message - it's the little things that count. You don't get to be "world class" by closing bathrooms and shutting lifts early.

I got a beef too. WTF Half of the men's room stalls don't have hooks to hang your coat on. Small potatoes to keep hooks in stalls. One maintenance guy with 30 hooks and different size screws and screw gun. Priceless. Cost almost nill.
Ladies hows your accomadations?

was there a sign at the base of the snowdon triple saying it closes at 3:15?
We all know that chair closes early, but it is ridiculous
The outpost closes at 3 or 3:30 depending on the lift ops. but there's always a sigh there stating the time it will close

Yep, pretty sure the lift report has the Snowdon Triple along with another lift or two closing at 3pm. Last season they stopped running the Snowdon Triple altogether not even half way through the season, as both Snowdon chairlifts see very little use.

Shutting down SRT at 3PM on Saturday was dumb. It was a zoo trying to get out of Bear, with the only exit being the express. In the midst of that mayhem, an ambassador got in the singles line, and rather than wait for an empty slot, just hopped in front of everyone and rode an Express chair by himself. What a horrible example for the paying patrons.

what happened to the fleet of snowcats? barely any left outside the Snowdon quad. Also heard rumors of Powdr taking the money it was making at Killington and that it was funneling it back west to some of their other resorts that weren't doing as well.

i think all the snowcats have been over on bear.. I saw about 8 on bear the other night. Snowcat drove by on sunrise couple hours ago too. I've seen the lot when full. I noticed they got rid of their black 'stealth' fleet, though. The turbo cummins diesels in them sound DOPE

Agreed on some of the snow quality comments and the closing and limited operating hours at the peak restaurant are frustrating.

With that said I thought the Bear deck, Reel Big Fish Concert, and setup was really good on Saturday afternoon.

Been coming to K for a long time, there was a good buzz out there Saturday afternoon.
