But Mitt graduated from BYU not Stanford, I think he started at Stanford. I am a bit of a political junkie.

Then found out that military Hummers are built by AMC General...and will continue to be. The consumer Hummer was licensed to GM by purchase from AMC. Who knew a bowling/Sunfish/Pacer company was building military vehicles? I'm sure finn knew this and I wish she would have shared this info with the Kzone community.
You are confusing AMF (American Machine and Foundry; Bowling gear, Voit sporting goods, Ben Hogan golf clubs, Head skis, Harley-Davidson, Alcort/Sailfish/Sunfish, Hatteras Yachts...) with AMC (American Motors Corp; ).

Even James Bond couldn't make AMC products cool.

Oooopsie. My bad. That's what happens when you have a vodka load on at 5AM and hadn't slept yet. Somebody at the toll booth drives a orange Gremlin. As ugly as it is, it's kinda cool.

Bubba I wouldn't drive either one of the cars you mentioned. I wonder what someone in japan thinks of that question.
Our companies are dying right? Should we let them die and let the foreign companies come in and take over completely?
Global economy sounds great and in twenty years when foreign companies are making all the cars, tanks, jets, nuts, bolts, etc, etc, that will be great as well when a global war erupts. Can you imagine relying on china for military needs?
I hear this all the time. "we can't rely on foreign oil." So what do these people do? Go buy a mittsubishi and further our dependency on foreign manufacturing.
So the mitt. comment brings me to the chest thumping marie talked about. Yes i am proud of my vehicles and the heritage they represent. I wouldn't be proud at all of a mitt, BMW, mercedes, toyota or any other vehicle made by a company that in it's past help kill americans. I don't roll like that son.
Have you ever seen band of brothers on HBO? Toward the end of the series there is a column of jerry's walking on the side of the road (defeated) past a bunch of americans in american trucks and a US soldier stands up and starts yelling at the germans "Thats's right! You stupid kraut bastards! That's right! Say hello to Ford! and general f*** motors! You stupid fascist pigs! Look at you! You have horses! what were you thinking?" What is to become of america without these companies the next time we go into a full scale war?
As far as honda goes we created that company after world war two in japan to help them get back on there feet so maybe you could say it's american. I wouldn't drive one. I am not ragging on someone who drives foreign cause it's all they could afford. But with whats going on in the economy now if you do have money to afford new and you still buy foreign that just seems silly to me and indeed unamerican. Put that in your pipe and smoke it I'm gonna go watch gran torino now.

To argue about "made in america" is just stupid. The government passed protection laws to keep Harley Davidson afloat. Harley turned around and retooled in the US, but they retooled with foriegn machines and assembly lines. By that American car but the parts were tooled and assembled by many machines made in Japan, Korea, China and Europe, not even in North America. So, exactly how is this buy american thing supposed to work? We can't make a machine here anylonger to make the parts for the machines.

And letting GM fold is going to help the situation?
