how bout this bill...stop drinking and driving...people die when some imature a-hole gets behind the wheel and thinks he/she is good enough to drive....
Yeah - what he said...
My wife's floor at hartford hospital is filled right now with primarily 20-25 yr old males who were driving drunk.

or speeding like maniacs. both are beyond stupid in my opinion and certainly in the opinion of the doctors and nurses who have to wipe your @ss's for 3 weeks while they feed you with a tube and... well you get the point.
Under proper conditions, non-existent traffic, good weather, dry, straight road, vehicle and driver both well maintained, 90mph is perfectly safe.

DUI, though, is a whole nother ballgame.
maybe a bit harsh on my part, but i can say it gets discouraging for her to see the same stereotype with the same accident situations over and over again.

He came back from his car after taking my license and registration, and handed me a ticket for $79.00. Thats right, $79.00 - the smallest permissible fine he can issue. Says he saved me $375 and a night in the slammer.

I said, "Thank you."
I also got nailed recently.
I was doing a pathetic 45 in a 35 in Rutland by the Grand Union, at 1:15AM after an eight hour drive!!!!!!!!
Ticket was also 79 Bucks, I paid and I hope they don't reciprocate with NY!! ( I have no points)

Go that way, really fast.

no kidding 90 is safe if the conditions are.... cars go WAY fasterthen that on the autobahn - conditions are safer..... ( no one creeps in the PASSING lane!).

How did he save you a night in the slammer, you can get thrown in jail for going 30 some odd miles an hour over the speed limit----- gawd that SUCKS. you can tear up the highways like mad max if you want in california - and you're only going to get a ticket, heh heh. I cant imagine driving from here to tahoe if i couldnt do it at 80mph+ , i guess thats one way california spoils you. I do 90 everymorning for the last couple months just getting to work...its about a 5 mile stretch down the highway.....

Last halloween comming back from boreal we were consistantly hitting 100 in a Durango untill we hit atleast sacto.

In california you can drive 95mph all day long, and somebodys always going faster then you

Dont know how fast my pig moves... needle drops off after 100. I've only done that a hand full of times anyways though.... 1971 Blazers arent ment for those speeds

So much for requesting a little assistance

Post by TheRat »

Thought I might be able to get a little help here, but I guess I was wrong. By the way, it's not for me but for an acquaintance from out of state. I agree completely with the irresponsibility of DUI. I too have seen the results and heartache. On the other hand, I've also seen the results of aggressive cops with little to do who sit outside popular establishments, stop people who have had one or two beers, trump up charges, and help fill the local coffers. People lose licenses, jobs, face enormous surcharges, and have lives ruined needlessly. Sure, this doesn't resonate with anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, but it's reality. In California a whole industry has evolved to deal with uncalled for DUI arrests. The bottom line is don't drive after drinking, but don't trust cops either.

Young un,you need to see some of the crashes on places like the Autoban or highways of places like China or Japan. Yeah, they go fast. They do NOT have the safety devices in the cars we have. They DIE real BAD. Nothing like a BMW, Mercedes or Nisan crumpled up at 135 or better. Don't matter what nation they is in, but at that speed, the result is the same, except, here they might survive. Quadraplegic, but survive.

I have to agree. I have friends who were busted on the access road after a couple of drinks by cops who tailgated them or just made up an excuse to stop them. If they just busted agressive drivers regardless of blood alcohol content the roads would be safer. You wouldn't beleive what I see very morning driving to work in NJ. BTW I get a ride home from the bars
or walk.

I was out at Deep Creek Lake, MD 2 weekends ago for Ski Wisp. I was driving on on 219 north at about midnight coming from a lame-ass party that I left early and was headed back to the rental house. I was following 2 other cars when another line of cars passed us headed southbound. As the cars where passing, I noticed one of them was a State Trooper. I didn't even get that sudden adrenaline rush that you get when you know your speeding and you see a cop, because I KNEW I WASN'T. A common reaction for me is to check my speed anyway when I see a cop so I glanced at the speedo and saw that I was doing 51mph. I even didn't let my foot off the gas.

Next thing I see is the red and blues and the Trooper busts a U-ey. Still no worries, I think "He must have gotten a call and is running on something". I pull over to let him by and that Mo-Fo pulls over with me! Now I'm like WTF! I'm looking at the road directly in front of me to see if I have a headlight out. Nope. OK, maybe my vehicle fits the description of blah blah blah...NOPE! Trooper comes up to me and says he got me doing 65 in a 50! I used to work in law enforcement and I know you should never argue with a cop, but this got me a little pissed off. I wanted to have at it, BUT, over the course of the previous 1.5 hrs I had 2 beers and I knew that if I pissed him off he could jam me up bigtime. I just asked him how he got me doing that speed. He told me "moving radar". B-U-L-L-sh*t!!! He did me a favor and reduced the speed to 59 mph on the ticket. $65 and 1 point. My trust is waning for officers in that area.

he Trooper busts a U-ey
same thing happened to me on route 100 between Killington and Okemo. right around the the town of tyson. i pullled over thinking I was going to let the cop pass me and he decides to pull me over. he was coming from the other direction and already had his lights on so i assumed he was responding to an emergency.

one thing you need to know in case you don;t already is that in vermont you have 10 points total. I have gotten 2 tickets in vermont so I have used up 5 already. according to the cop, those points don;t expire and I don;t know how to get them taken away. somebody correct me if i am wrong.

kind of annoying that ticket 1 was a very arbritrary 51 in a 35 zone and the 2nd one was a 76 in a 65 zone. my suspiscion was that it was all made up but when you are driving with out of state license plates, you are target.
