Wednesday Report
Got out from about 11:00 - 12:45 today, in between a morning conference call and one this afternoon. Temps in the low 20s but seemed colder. Certainly windier than I thought it would be before I headed out. Spent most of my time at Bear, Needles and Skye/Bitter along with one long fast cruise down Great Eastern to Skye Base. Lower Bear Claw had the guns going and was not bad with bumps. Lower Wildfire on the other hand was scraped off in many place and was one and done. Guns were going on parts of Great Eastern including the narrow section between the top of Skye Peak Quad and Bittersweet. Panic/Needles was OK, nothing special. Same with Bittersweet although there seemed to be better snow there than Needles. The cruise down GE was a nice, fast quad burn, non-stop from top to bottom. Thanks for the report Bubba. No offense but I hate Webshots, I'm sure you have a good reason for using it but I just can't stand it.Bubba wrote:Got out from about 11:00 - 12:45 today, in between a morning conference call and one this afternoon. Re: Wednesday Report
Race day today, had to start from Ramshead Snowden quad was down, by the time we skied over from Ramshead it was up and running. Quick runs down East Fall & Rime then headed to Race course on High Line, I'll be posting up results after the after party at Sante Fe.
Rest of day was just taking it easy, no major problems skiing best snow was under the guns on Lower Skylark, those tower gun put outnice snow. Day 50 and counting.

1. It's free
2. It's where I started saving photos on-line because it was free
3. It would be a real pain to change over to something else and move photos over even if the "something else" were better and free
4. Did I mention that it's free?

Re: Wednesday Report
thought I would post my first ever daily report...Nice day out there today for sure..conditions were much better than I expected after last weekend's meltdown...and it was very nice once the sun came out just before 1 pm. Could be a redo tomorrow...

Re: Wednesday Report
Maybe I was on a different mountain also...
College week continues! Pffft.
Out from 9-Noon. No Snowdon Quad first thing on an ice delay, but the Canyon Quad was running and that was awesome.
Light was a bit flat early, but that changed as the AM went on.
I did a bunch of laps alternating between Cascade and Rime->Lower East Fall and liked conditions on both. Firm, but not icy like on Monday.
Switched to midstation laps with Cruise Control and Panic->Needles both flat and fast. I hit 43 mph on Needles according to Phresheez, and I'm not usually a speed demon.
Were those snowguns firing all down Vertigo?
Came back and one each on the Superstar pod. Again, sharp edges a must, but not too bad. Lower Skyelark was under the the guns and very fun.
Too long a line when I crossed back to the K1, so it was Snowdon Quad to the Mouse Run park (fun!) then down Mouse Trap with the guns on the left reaching over the bump course to make skier's right a nice, creamy treat.
One last East Fall (some death crumbs starting to show up by lunch) and then home.
No beef with the conditions at all. K's done a good job recovering from last weekend's weather.
Of course some of these college week clowns really need to learn how to ski/ride.

Re: Wednesday Report
Did anyone ski Vertigo once it opened under the guns? According to Facebook they dropped the ropes sometime today.

Can't wait til college week ends, heard it is also next week too. They should take some lessons, lots of snowboarders on their asses in the middle of the trails, both from sitting and falling!

Re: Wednesday Report
College week again next week, but generally not as busy as the first week. Don't you love the hungover adolescents descending the slopes in packs totally out of control?
I was out from 9AM to 3:30PM today and enjoyed myself. Bear was good first thing in the AM before the crowds arrived and began to scrape things off. Had a couple of good runs on Ovation after lunch with nice soft bumps on the lower headwall. Finshed up the day on Snowdon with no crowds.

Re: Wednesday Report
Rocked 8 laps on it. That says it all. Visability was balls but creamy, silky man-made was wonderful. Ovation skied very nicely today. Almost chalky and very edgable. Under the guns on Sky were decent too.jimmywilson69 wrote:Did anyone ski Vertigo once it opened under the guns? According to Facebook they dropped the ropes sometime today.
Lots of ice around though too and no shortage of aggravating college idiots around too.
Re: Wednesday Report
On the mountain from 9:30 to 4:00. Best snow=Lower Ovation and Vertigo. No Bumps yet, because there wasn't enough traffic. I think that you should drop whatever you have planned for tomorrow and hit it! Seriously, I can't remember the snow being any better than it was on lower Ovation today. Zero ice. Great coverage. Very consistent and soft. The snow making crew deserves props.
Vertigo was also high quality, but visibility was not perfect.
Wildfire has been permanently ruined by vandals in grooming machines. It's flat ice.
The bottom of Skyeburst was continuous soft bumps by the end of the day.
The bump course on upper double dipper was solid ice with windblown fluff on top. The first one down (me) had an awesome run through soft fresh wonderfulness. Everyone else.....well.
The course on Mouse Trap is great.
But, today was all about Ovation and Vertigo.
You should postpone whatever you think is so important, and ski tomorrow. It's fun.
Oh, and the college kids have great energy. Not so bad.
One thing though, they straight-line out of the Stash and down into Viper Pit (which is now flat). Don't go there.
