Most homosexuals would feel offended, and for good reasons. We don't use Latino or African American as an insult, so it's not clear why we should be allowed to use "homo" or "gay" as an insult. You don't get this. I get that you don't get it. So, the best that can be said for you is that you might not be a bigot after all (perhaps you are), you may just be an ignorant clown. Ever hear a comedian use the word, Nigger? Cracker? Beaner? Guido? Injun? Kraut? Piker? Raghead? Ruskie? Slant? Spic? Spook? Wop? Kike? Chink? c**t? Redneck? Sambo? Wetback? It might not be your type of comedy, but in that context its not racist imo. If you can't laugh at yourself sometimes, you've got a problem. Generally there is pllenty of folks laughing in the audience, whether the slur refers to their own creed or someone elses. I'm more inclined to laugh at a joke about white irish people than I am about african americans or homosexuals. Am I racist against my own? No.
