1. A new South Ridge chair that could also return people to the peak.
2. The interconnect - it would open up a lot of new terrain, boost skier visits a ton, make Killington untouchable in the east in terms of size and terrain and be good for businesses located on Route 4 in Mendon that are barely surviving now.
3. The village - not the village that's planned but a village that makes sense to skiers/riders, visitors and locals and property seekers alike.

Replace the Snowdon Quad and install a lift at South Ridge.
Re: What would you rather see happen at Killington?
My wish list is as follows:
1. Replace the south ridge chair- love to ski this area, but the return trip takes over an hour. Also we need another way out of Bear besides the skye peak quad.
2. Interconnect-lets get this done, as it will make K and Pico a more unified area. It would be sweet.
3. Replace the snowdon quad . Leo Denis said it was an improvement over the double chair. However, it still takes as long as the quad did.
3. The same as Bubba for the village. If and when a village comes it needs to be one that includes everyone.

Agree, I was at Stow last season; below is a picture of one of the cafeterias in the new village. It's nice but, doesn't feel like a ski lodge. And the people don't act like they're at a ski area. Everyone was real quiet and proper (no fun). I hope Killington does not go this route with their village.Finn wrote: 3. The same as Bubba for the village. That is what all that AIG money did buy. Time will tell if they get a decent return on investment. Love riding the Sensation detachable vs the old Big Spruce Double. That was money wisely spent. The Slowdon replacement will have the same positive effect.freeski wrote:Agree, I was at Stow last season; below is a picture of one of the cafeterias in the new village. I'd rather see an awesome KBL rather than shave 3 minutes off the Snowdon Quad. I'd rather we blow another glacier next year than shave 3 minutes off the Snowdon Quad. I'd rather see a new trail pod than shave 3 minutes off the Snowdon Quad.Guy in Shorts wrote: That is what all that AIG money did buy. Time will tell if they get a decent return on investment. Yeah, the AIG investment at Stowe provided big gains for them.
(We're ALL paying for that as US taxpayers)
Curious...why spend any time at all at Spruce when Forerunner chair is running
That's a top 3 ROI charilift in New England
Back on subject... how about a twice/day shuttle from Wheelerville Rd?
Minimum investment required for that.
Or, a Snow Coach ... special paid guide service to the sidecountry.
Some here would volunteer as outfitters for that role

after being at Vail this past week, Id like to see lifts that dont stop every 50 feet
Re: What would you rather see happen at Killington?
Went to Steamboat in the 70's and over by Priest Creek chair (it may be THE chair) the lifty would hold the chair and as soon as you sat down you were off the ground. If you screwed up he would grab the chair, tell you to duck and let it go, hopefully missing you. He then told you to go to the back of the line. Very effective way to keep the chair loading and rid the mountain of dummies. Probably would get him fired these days.BoozeTan wrote:after being at Vail this past week, Id like to see lifts that dont stop every 50 feet

that's one reason the Stowe-ites are so incessantly smiley.

I agree, I also love being able to lap that area over and over with fresh tracks each run.Skivt2 wrote:The interconnect would be terrible for Pico. Hope it never happens. Killington is massive enough as it is. I'm sure the terrain between the 2 areas is compelling, but I love Pico for what it is and hope it remains the quiet, laid back mountain it is. That goes away with the Interconnect.
I don't have a problem with the Village, but don't care if it never gets built either.
Sunrise would benefit me for the 5 minute shorter commute time, but the only way I see it making sense is if they have the opportunity to develop more trail side real estate.
South Ridge replacement would be #1 on my list of "needs."
On my lists of "wants" for the mountain is a couple of new narrow expert trails. It would mean sacrificing some trees (and I generally prefer tree skiing to trail skiing), but Killington lacks at least a couple narrow expert trails full of character. You've got the short Catwalk, Flume (kinda narrow) and Powerline (no pitch) and that's really it. A couple of Rumble, Goat, Robin's Run type trails would be a great addition. I'd cut 1 or 2 in the Julio/Anarchy area and 1 between Outer Limits and Wildfire. Julio/Anarchy area is HUGE. I think you could throw a couple of 10-15 foot wide kick ass natural snow expert trails in there and still maintain a vast amount of tree skiing. Between OL and WF is substantial acreage as well; enough to throw another such trail in.
