Hows the depth looking? Snow report mentions a 20' base.

Groomers where working hard last night putting on it's corduroy suit. Ready for the skiers to create new bump lines.

The 20 foot base is on the top. Not sure where else, marketing is being, um... ambitious there. There is none of the height we saw last year on middle. The extra stockpiles we saw last year behind the fence and towards Skylark aren't there. Guns are off, and it's cold. March 1st is tomorrow, and this might be the last deep cold blast. If we don't see the guns come back on soon, we won't be skiing on even close to Memorial Day this year.

Yeah, and Jeff Promised Mike he would make it to June, or at least Memorial Day. Heads will roll for failure which is NOT AN OPTION.

There was a bunch of hoses tied together at the base of the headwall on Wednesday. Looks to me like they were cleaning up.
Lets hope for a cool March and early April if they want to make a run at Sunday June 1

June 1st old tradition, bring the BBQ up to the top of Superstar (like they used to on Down Draft) and have a cook out on the hill for all the die hards.

As far as Kton is concerned, the buck stops with Mike S. If K doesn't blow enough on Supe to make it to late May or June, it's on him. He's very publicly conveyed that Kton will try to make it deep into may and June if possible. One of his main marketing tools is that the beast is back and that it has the longest season in the east. He told local businesses that Kton was committed to regaining first to open and last to close. Mike S. suggested that HE was in charge of what happens at K. He gave the impression that Nyberg had to cut fat, but that now he has leeway to do as he sees fit with Kton. What he publicly told us is that what he wants to do is get the beast back. And getting the beast back means blowing as much snow on Supe as he did last year. So far he hasn't and time's running out. Furthermore, if Nyberg is pulling the plug, then Mike S. should stop okaying the misleading condition reports stating that Supe has a 20' base, when the middle section is nowhere close to where it needs to be. If you know you're not going to make the push (because you don't want to or Nyberg is forcing you), don't keep acting as if you are.

All this being said, I trust that Mike S. will make a final glacier building push and that the base will be there to carry K into May. He's earned that trust. But if he doesn't blow enough to make it, it's on him. The people in charge need to be accountable and it would undermine accountability to credit MIke S. for everything good that happens at K and then give him a pass for bad things that happen at K and instead chalking them up to Nyberg.

hope so. would love to see memorial. and june 1 would be quite a marketing coup ... and yeah in mike we trust but fact or fiction, the departure of a bunch of compressors back in jan was linked to a chris nyberg visit. whether that filters down to the june 1 plan, who knows. cn could care less about reviving the beast. it's all numbers to him. be assured he will remind mike about making his numbers - june 1 be damned. mike's escape hatch in all this is that weather wise it's been a very challenging season and that they blew through their snowmaking budget a long time ago. as far as misleading reports go, certainly not blaming mike, but one need look no further back than last saturday's facebook fiasco.

I'd be happy to see just one trail lit up with snowmaking at this point. Dead stop, it seems.
