Great job Killington ..... MrG names OL ROTD under the guns - worth three laps  Rest of Bear great - whomever groomed The Stash and Skyburst should give lessons to the rest of the crew

College kids have been great to ride lifts ... even a crew of eight from Notre Dame!! Said difference from yesterday to today is 100 times better!!

Peak rating great, but always better when Katie and Pam here

Despite somewhat lower temps, the lack of wind made today seem warmer than yesterday. Some light snowshowers mid-day, but not any accumulation. As predicted, the extra day of grooming made conditions better than yesterday. As MrsG noted, OL was definitely the place to be. I think I made 3 or 4 laps in the morning plus another 3 after lunch. The coverage across the slope was quite good. Not sure if its the new tower guns or the wind yesterday, but much better than with the old tower guns.

Nice Stache, you hit 40mph. I just got the same app and could not get past 39.2 the first few times.
But it was pretty crowded New Years week, hard to find spots where you could let it rip safely. Looking
forward to my next chance.

Cloudy gray cold flat light classic Kilington start. Thermometer was MIA on the summit thankfully liftie Korey said it was minus 6 at 8:30. Low Road was the only listed ungroomed open trail. More loose snow to be found as the overnight corduroy crew had been busy. Double Dipper was chewed up cookies without the milk. Found OL Express open leading to a snowgun dreamworld. Shaving the cream cheese then racing your wash down the steep was exhilarating. Outer Limits tower guns had pumped out a big spine with steep carving dropoffs. Panic to Needles opened following morning race training with fresh groomed turns found. Upper Bittersweet was thick with very nice snow with the lower section a little icy. Snow showers were a welcome delight leaving a dusting on the mountain.

Grade C+

Quote of the Day - It is even cold inside the gondola.

Best morning ever was last February 20th, 2014:
Daughter visiting from college. We got on at the Skyeship base at 8:10am. I had to be at 9:30 UK lineup so not much time to play.
Conditions could not have been sweeter for laying railroad tracks down on very fast firm smooth groomed, with a soft top, corduroy.
Perfectly seamless edge to edge grooming and nobody else out early. Slopes to ourselves.
I cannot tell you how thrilling and satisfying it is to chase your 19 yo daughter down the mountain at high speeds and knowing she is totally in control and comfortable at those speeds.
1. Gateway to Bearclaw>SPE.

3. Gateway > Bearclaw repeat>SPE.
4. Skye>Northway>Cruise> Needles4.
5. Panic>Needles>Needles4.
6. GE>Cruise>Needles4.
7. Bittersweet>High Road>Snowshed.
She did 13 more runs before 12:45-13:45 lunch and ten more runs after that.
30 runs total for her day.
Wish she had a phone that tracked it.

Looking at the photos, it sure looks like given the conditions on OL a better grade than C+ is deserved. But then again, I always thought I deserved better grades too?

C+ was the whole mountain grade as things have greatly improved with the second groom. Outer Limits was an A- with some of finest powder that could be made on the planet found there yesterday. Should get a little stiffer with the guns off today.

Thanks for the pictures GIS. I can imagine by your description how good it was to ski OL under the guns.
