The sober, trained armed Amercian Patriot citizen

Post by f.a.s.t. »

After working a hard 3 pm to 11 pm shift a 65 year old woman left her job in Manchester, NH Monday night and made a quick stop at a convenience store and then headed home. She noticed that another car was following her and it parked nearby upon her arrival home. Some scum got out of the car and followed her to the apartment steps. The 65 year old woman, licensed to carry a concealed weapon was ready; holding her pistol inside her jacket pocket.
When the sub-human rodent reached for her at the steps, the 5'11''-105 lbs.-65 year old woman shot the rodent in the chest. This sober, trained, armed American Patriot citizen is proof that the second amendment works. Unfortunately, the rodent is in the hospital recovering from the gun shot to the chest, this will cost hard working, tax paying citizens that work, like the 65 year old woman, tens of thousands of dollars in medical and incarceration charges. It is really too bad the rodent wasn't killed.

This type of story made the local TV news here in NH, but these stories never make the National News. What a shame, this woman is a National Hero and instead the media shows B.O. crying on TV trying to prevent this woman from being able to obtain and carry a firearm.

Here's a link to the story. The only sad thing is she didn't kill the cockroach. Now maybe people will start to understand the Second Amendment is a right to self protection and a deterrent to an overzealous government. Good job for standing up and protecting yourself.

The Violence Policy Center in 2015 analyzed federal crime and health data and, using statistics from 2012, identified 259 occurrences of justifiable gun-related homicides, or incidents in which authorities ruled that killings occurred in self-defense. They identified 8,342 criminal homicides using guns, 20,666 suicides with guns, and 548 fatal unintentional shootings, according to the FBI’s Supplemental Homicide Report. The ratio for 2012, per the Violence Policy Center, was one justifiable killing for every 32 murders, suicides or accidental deaths (the ratio increases to 38-1 over the five-year period ending in 2012).

But yes, I understand why gun laws should remain as they are today. More school, mall, and theater shootings so a very select few get the oppurtunity to defend themselves. Meanwhile other nations with stricter gun laws (e.g., Germany) don't have remotely close to the violence issues we have here in America.

while your statement on germany may be statistically accurate, it doesn;t exactly prove that " gun laws" are the predominant factor...

We learned the above just last month, which makes the latest findings on how Americans view gun control consistent with previously observed attitudes. Meanwhile, Nick Gillespie over at Reason explains the latest poll results from Gallup, and highlights how Obama continues to force an alternative agenda on the American people:

The first major action taken by Barack Obama in 2016—a set of new gun-control measures mandated via executive order—is aimed at a threat that Americans don’t spend a lot of time worrying about.

In its latest survey of Americans, Gallup finds that “dissatisfaction with government,” not guns or even terrorism, tops the list of concerns:

Obama’s new actions against guns include expanding background checks; changing definitions of mental illness in a way that limits who is able to own guns; increasing the number of federal agents charged with tracking gun sales and crimes; and more.

Because violent crime, including gun-related crime and murders, is way down, gun-control issues don’t generally capture the public imagination the way that they would in a world of increasing murder rates. In the same Gallup survey that listed “dissatisfaction with government” as the top concern for each of the past two years, “guns/Gun control” was considered “the most important problem” by 2 percent of respondents, about the same who listed “lack of respect for each other” and pollution.

Yet Obama pushes forward with measures that even he acknowledges “will save few lives,” almost certainly more out of politics than an interest in dealing with the most serious problems facing the country.

Obama’s willingness to always pivot to issues that are not front and center, along with his willingness to expand the role of the state in virtually every aspect of our lives from health care to mass surveillance is surely a big part of the reason why people are consistently worried more about government than anything else. In this, of course, he’s had plenty of help from Republicans and his fellow Democrats, which also helps to explain another Gallup finding released this time last year: “In U.S. New Record 43% Are Independents.”
Now let’s look at the detailed breakdown from Gallup. It’s not even close, gun control barely registers.

so it seems that very few people have ANY interest at all in obama's " priority agenda" and there's yet another reason why trump would be a much better leader as it seems quite clear that his priorities are pretty much the top 4 items on that list of americans concerns...

The graphs above comparing the UK to US is not an apples to apples comparison. Here's a different slice of similar data.

IMO being killed by a gun or a knife or any other violent method is equally sh!tty... you clearly said "violence issues" and while there my be less gun violence in places w/o guns ( duh) there isn't necessarily less violence and in britain and wales in particular it seems the rate of violence per capita is MUCH higher...

one thing no one will point out, except me, is the racial and cultural makeup of those countries in relation to their level of violence... facts are facts...and NOWHERE in the middle east even makes that list? seems a bit suspect to me...and what is "human development order"? how is that quantified?

You say only 259 justifiable gun-related homicides, what a foolish thing to quote. There are tens of thousands incidents every year where armed American Patriots defend themselves with firearms. Here are just a few examples:

My only nitpick with this thread is the use of the term American Patriot citizen. Just because she carried a concealed weapon and used it to defend herself does not make her any more or less patriotic than you or I. In fact, for all you or I know, she could be a member of the Communist Party or the KKK.

You are right, you don't have to be armed to be an American Patriot citizen. Her action is patriotic as far as I'm concerned, although I guess she could be a bad apple too. One thing is for sure, there are millions and millions of citizens and illegals living in the USA that are not Patriotic.
